It's called Astrology. It's a sort of divination based on constellations. It means that according to her understanding of the stars, the constellation Cancer was highest in the sky when you were born. I'm pretty sure it's a crab? Not sure why.

Astrology is crap, though. There are only 12 signs, and each is assigned a couple of personality traits, so basically out of a population of billions there are only 12 kinds of people.
