So, I'm sure by now you've seen Mr. Claude's post about a feast he wants to hold, and I'm not sure how many people are in a similar situation but...
I've never had to cook before, and buying food to bring seems like it would cost a lot and not be in the spirit of things, so I was wondering if anyone had any advice? Or could help teach me? Mr. Claude said I should bring bread, but I don't know how difficult that would be.
If anyone can help, I would appreciate it.

do you like
know this person
because
it might be idek slightly less awkward than being like
"hey you don't know me but i heard u can cook"
but since you also need to figure out how to cook
then it's not like a weird personal favour....

But I don’t know any of them personally. Hopefully they show up and we can all get help. Maybe it could be a group thing?

i always just bought food
or uh
ate leftovers that were totally free for anyone to eat and definitely didn't belong to anybody ever
i dunno wtf to do with food
it's supposed to just come that way i'm not supposed to have to like mess with it to make it edible uggghHHHHH
i haven't even figured out what to bring yet
who knows if this place even has like... ingredients and shit
no subject
Well, are there any foods you like having? That's what Mr. Claude told me to bring, which is why I'm asking about bread.
There has to be ingredients, right? Otherwise how would people make food to sell.

Mean pretty sure it won't be too hard to find a recipe to bake bread right? Like, flour, water and yeast, make a dough, let it rise, stick it in the oven or whatever.
Think it just takes a while. Can't say I've done it myself.
Like it'd be seriously snobbish if people turned their nose up at anyone's home cooking.

[Oh no. There’s so many things about this he doesn’t understand.]
I’m afraid I’ve never cooked before, so it might be better to get some guidance before I do something that might end poorly - plus I imagine people will be scrutinizing the food? It’s supposed to be a feast to judge everything, right?
no subject
Okay so a recipe is like a list of instructions or orders to follow to make whatever it is. So it might say 'Step 1: Mix flour and water in a bowl', so you do that first, then go onto the next step.
But yeah think getting guidance from someone who knows what they're doing might help you a bit.
TBH I don't think it's like a cooking contest or whatever from what that guy said, think it's just about sharing stuff from our home worlds and getting together, you know? A social thing not a tournament thing or w/e.

What are biscuits, anyways?

Biscuits are a type of small roll you sometimes get with a meal.

you've probably cooked before at least once without knowing it.
even tossing pasta into boiling water is cooking.
[ low-effort cooking, but it counts in her book. ]

I've never put anything into boiling water.
[Yeah, that'll work. And it's, unfortunately, true.]
no subject
that's kind of pathetic.
how have you survived up until now?

I understand that you are seeking advice for Claude's aforementioned feast. Please allow me to try my hand at answering your question!
I have heard it said that cooking is an art, while baking is a science. This means that when cooking meals, recipes are more of a guide than a rule; but with baking, you must be precise with your measurements and ingredients in order for the end result to turn out right.
Bread falls into the baking category. If you are adept at following instructions, then I would think it little trouble!
Best,

What is this?]
Why do you write like this?
But I see... I'm pretty good at following directions, so maybe this won't be as disastrous as I thought it would be. I appreciate the guidance!

Dear Sir,
I am delighted to be of assurance to you! If you do decide to pursue baking, I wish you well-- and also hope that you will not lose heart should your first attempts go awry.
As to your first question... In my home country, letter etiquette is quite standardized for politeness and to ensure they reach their sender. Do you find it strange? I must admit I have been dropping some formalities here and there-- was that presumptuous of me? If I have offended you in some manner, please illuminate the specifics so that I may apologize and endeavor to correct it.
Thank you in advance for your reply.

I already give lessons to one Lady Della Duck, if you'd like to also be taught the artform of the bake!

We can start you off with simple things and move from there! Basic bread loafs, like how I learned!
