[Here's Rose, in her room at the hotel. Behind her, one can see a phoenix perched on the headboard of the bed, feathers puffed up, and looking pretty damn proud. Some may recognize the phoenix as the winner of the Familiar Feud. Rose gives the bird a look before turning back to the camera with a sigh.]

Does anyone have any advice in dealing with a familiar who has an inflated ego? It has been weeks since that tournament and he is still preening and strutting around to the point of being ridiculous.

[The phoenix looks at her and makes a hawk like sound of protest. She looks back at the bird.]

You are being ridiculous. That thing was weeks ago. There is no need for you to be strutting around like a peacock anymore.

[The bird makes a "hmph!" like sound and goes back to looking proud. Rose gives another sigh and shakes her head.]

Any advice will be appreciated...

((ooc: due to some issues that came up in RL, I ended up missing last month's event and had completely forgot that I had signed Rose up for the familiar tournament. So, I was pretty surprised when I saw her familiar won. So yeah, I do apologize for that. If there are any interactions you would like to handwave, feel free to pm or hit me up on Plurk @ [plurk.com profile] tiger_dragoon.))

[Sokka just needed a drink to actually get some courage to post about the pick up line quest. Actually he hadn't felt like touching it with a stick before this since he was recovering from a broken heart. But now that he had actually had a drink, he was like why the fuck not..!]

Hey! Heyhey.... if I could rearrange the alphabet, I’d put ‘U’ and ‘I’ together.

[He starts snickering, because wow that was kinda horrible. Then he looks back at the camera with a grin.]

Oh... I got an even better one! Like the moon, my thoughts revolve around you.

[He laughs, but at the same time there are actually tears in his eyes. Is he laughing so hard he's laughing? Unfortunately, no, he's just crying while laughing. Until he's actually just sobbing and turning off the camera abruptly.

And that one drink he had? It was more close to three.]

[Rose is in her room with several books. Looks like someone has been studying up on their magic. Though, in her case, the books that she had focused on Dark magic. From the way she was frowning at the one book currently in her hand, it was clear that she came across something that she didn't like.]

I know that the magic here works differently from the magic of my home world. Here anyone can use it while back in my world, for humans to use magic, they needed some kind of enchanted object to do so. I, myself, used such an object to cast Dark magic spells.

[She sighed and closed the book]

There are somethings about the Dark magic here that is similar to what I was able to do back in my world. Manipulate shadows and cause pain without physical injury are similar to what I already know. Curses and Hexes are something new to me though. But this...

[She holds up the book that was on a certain section of Dark magic. The section on Love enchantments. And boy, does Rose ever look annoyed about it.]

Who thought that this kind of nonsense should be a part of Dark magic? If I didn't need to know at least the basics of these kinds of spells in order to master Dark magic here, I would not even bother with it!

[Rose is shown, sitting on the bed in her hotel room, holding a Teru Teru Bozu that she had made. Just behind her one can see the window.]

I did not think much about the request to put these little ghost looking dolls outside our windows. It seemed rather silly, to be honest. Doing such a thing in hopes that the weather would change is nothing but superstition back in my home world. But I decided to make two as a lark.

[She was a little bored at the time, and working with her hands made for a good distraction.]

I did not expect to wake up this morning to see a sprite having a what appeared to be a little wedding with the one I put out. Needless to say, that doll is now gone.

[She gave a bit of a sigh]

Guess, I am still skeptical about how somethings are in this realm.

Anyway, the reason I am making a post is because the sprite left a basket containing mostly sweets. I really do not care for such things, so does anyone want it?

Oh ah, hello everyone, I do hope you're having a lovely day. I was wondering if I might ask a question, and since so many people here are from so many different worlds, I am sure someone is bound to know the answer...

Though I suppose I could always try it for myself. [She mumbles.]

You see, last month, Mr. Ken and I were discussing something, and I have been trying to find the answer on my own but I can't find anything about it in books. [Alice is still from a time when you looked in books for all your answers, not the internet. But hey, at least she's gotten to this point.]

My question is: Can you melt strawberries?

We were discussing making chocolate-covered strawberries, and Mr. Ken, in his usually pessimistic way [Calling out her adopted brother, don't mind her.] mentioned he might melt strawberries as something that could go wrong.

And I got so terribly curious! [Because of course she did.] I know you can blend strawberries and mash them and mush them, grind them and dice them and all sorts to make jams and preserves and jellies and drinks, but not MELT them.

So, can you? That is, can you melt strawberries? I do have elemental magic, how hot does the fire have to be to melt it? I suppose logically you COULD melt anything.

Oh! Oh are there things that are unmeltable? [She tilts her head and taps her lips.] Is unmeltable a real word? It doesn't SOUND like a real word. [Alice shrugs, quite used to making up words at this point in her life.]

In any case, any answers to my question, or oh! Perhaps help in setting up the experiment to see if strawberries can melt, would be much appreciated!

Thank you very much! [And thus, she curtsies to the camera.]

Make sure you get my good side!

[Oda Nobunaga is being filmed by someone else, and as he quickly makes apparent: hunting in the forest.]

Okay! This is Oda Nobunaga, Demon King of the Sixth Heaven. [He'll get tired of that mouthful... eventually.] Hijikata-sama is busy doing super important police work so I got Zuko to provide backup so I can show you proper sumo techniques on a bear fir! Those are trees in the shape of bears. Don't worry, if I get eaten, and can't cut my way free, Zuko will set it on fire, and then we'll show you how to make sure it doesn't spread to the forest!

First you need to lure it! [He has a fish for the bait.] In my time, we would give offerings and sacrifices, but since I want to wrestle one, not appease it--

[He doesn't get to finish the sentence before he gets sideswiped by an irritated bear fir. It was not lured by the fish. It was flushed out by Nobunaga's oni, but who's counting?]

[Nobunaga crashes into a tree, gets the wind knocked out of him... but he's grinning ear to ear.]

[And tackles the bear, trying to wrestle, or ride it, or... who the fuck knows?]

[It's a bit insane. But eventually he winds up inside it and cuts himself free...]

[And looks sorely disappointed.]

Ah... that's it? I didn't get to show anything off... Okay! Let's do the fire anyway! Zuko set me on fire!

[This can only end well.]

[On cue, a small puff of flame appears from the cameraman's unseen hands. The flames are weak. After another, only slightly bigger puff, a grumble can be heard, before one more unsteady, unimpressive lick of flames appears from thin air, followed by a hoarse:]

What the fuck?!

[Muttered under the firebender's breath. Finally, fourth must be the charm... and a gust of fire shoots forth, striking Nobunaga straight-on. Thank goodness the daimyo has healing magic because, uh, Zuko is clearly not fully in control of this fire he's magicking up. And he's very embarrassed to be short on juice on a live public feed. This whole thing isn't going exactly to plan, is it?]

[The grown warlord then holds up a finger, as his cuirass (at least it's not his Japanese armor? Is that better or worse?) smolders and gets hotter!]
This technique isn't taught in my time, but you should all know it!

Stop! Drop! And roll!

[And he demonstrates.]

[The bear fir in the meanwhile has recollected, REFORMED itself... and just decides an idiot on fire is not worth trying to eat again. Good thinking. Off it goes!]

[No idiots were maimed in the making of this video. Don't play with fire. Or bear trees.]

[It has only been a month since Rose was dumped into the lake and arrived at Avalon. And has it ever been a whirl wind.]

Soa, are things always this- [Crazy? Insane?] Interesting here?

When I first arrived here, there were vines in the forest that would snatch people up. [Which obviously led to even more trouble later on.]

Now there is a minotaur throwing rocks at the city and it did something unspeakable to the water supply to one part of the city. On top of that there is a possibility of war lingering in the air. [A conflict that she hasn't been around long enough to full understand the full story behind it yet.]

Do things ever slow down?

[She gives a sigh.]

At least it is not constantly raining anymore...

So people have been talking about all our choices regarding how to deal with the fae. I think no matter what we decide we do also need to consider something else. We need to consider how disorganized we are if shit happens and whatever we choose fails.

Whether we like it or not, this place is our home for now. I think no matter what we do next, we need to get more organized about protecting this place if shit happens. For all we know even choosing a peaceful option could lead to the fae invading later on if we do something to piss them off. We can all hope otherwise, but I've always felt it better to be strong enough to deal with whatever happens.

Okay, so I suck at this whole speaking on the network thing, but just wanted to know if there would be interest in forming a defense focused militia and what sort of skills and experience we have to work with. That and if there is someone better than me at leading and training people. I'm a good fighter, but I know that no one besides me could learn to fight the way I did. I'm also better suited for figuring out the best way to stab the enemy.

[And then with that he'll go ahead and end the message.]
