[Here's Rose, in her room at the hotel. Behind her, one can see a phoenix perched on the headboard of the bed, feathers puffed up, and looking pretty damn proud. Some may recognize the phoenix as the winner of the Familiar Feud. Rose gives the bird a look before turning back to the camera with a sigh.]

Does anyone have any advice in dealing with a familiar who has an inflated ego? It has been weeks since that tournament and he is still preening and strutting around to the point of being ridiculous.

[The phoenix looks at her and makes a hawk like sound of protest. She looks back at the bird.]

You are being ridiculous. That thing was weeks ago. There is no need for you to be strutting around like a peacock anymore.

[The bird makes a "hmph!" like sound and goes back to looking proud. Rose gives another sigh and shakes her head.]

Any advice will be appreciated...

((ooc: due to some issues that came up in RL, I ended up missing last month's event and had completely forgot that I had signed Rose up for the familiar tournament. Yeah, I got a strategy that works well. I just remind my guy that he's small enough I can dropkick him off those cliffs and into the water. Tends to shut him up pretty fast.

[Seriously, what Tiny Shabranigdo lacks in size he more than makes up for by never shutting up. The other, bigger shard never talked this much!]

[Rose just kinda gives the young girl a look. Azrael, the phoenix also stops puffing up to also give his own 'wtf' look. Lucky for the bird, Rose is not the kind to threaten physical violence over such a minor thing.]

That is a crude method that I do not wish to take. Such threats can only go so far and can create weak bond.

[Lina holds up her hands.] Okay, okay, bad example I admit. But cut me a little slack! I didn't get a phoenix for my familiar, I got the source of all my world's evil. He's not the easiest guy in the world to get along with!

[As if on cue a clawed hand is thrust upwards, barely visible over the table Lina is currently sitting at, pointed at the red-haired sorceress' face.]

"Mortal servant, heed my commandment. My hunger rents the earth and boils the seas. You will procure for me the "ham-burgers" or I shall sate my appetite with endless destruction."

Yeah, you see? Like that.

[Suddenly, Rose was grateful that the God of Destruction back in her world didn't speak.]

So you have a familiar who throws a temper tantrum if you do not feed it? It sounds like you have an ill behaved child rather than a source of evil.

Yeah, that's about it. Honestly I kind of preferred the other version of this guy. He talked less and was honestly easier to deal with. Even if he was trying to destroy the world.

"A fate which will befall this pathetic world should you fail to heed my command, minion. For I am—"

[Lina angrily turns around in her chair and looks down at the hungry demon familiar, hidden from the view of her camera.]

YOU ARE A FOOT TALL. Okay? So go ahead! Endless destruction, get on it! Don't let me stop you, TS. Boil seas, rend the earth, have at. There's a whole city out there for you to get started with."

[There's a pause while Lina glares, an eye twitching a little.]

"...Maybe I don't feel like it right now."

[there is the sound of footsteps retreating, and Lina turns back to the camera, rubbing her nose in annoyance.]

I may not be as helpful to you as I was hoping to be. Sorry about that.

I don't see no harm in lettin' the fella enjoy them self? Look at that plumage! What a beautiful Phoenix, they deserve to feel as much pride as their little self is worth. [ She lets out a gentle chuckle. ]

[Well that certainly gets Azrael's attention. He flies over and lands on Rose's shoulder, giving happy chirps and showing off his feather.]

[Rose sighs some.]

Do not encourage him. He has had an ego since he won that tournament. Letting him enjoy himself was fine at first, but it has been weeks now.

[She sounds annoyed, but she did reach up and started to scratch the phoenix's chest lightly.]

[ Another feathery friend suckered into her charming ways, the other had been Emerald. Kotarou's familiar, she couldn't help but enjoy the reactions the Phoenix gave but also their partner. ]

Oh, is it so wrong to let oneself enjoy the glory of a win? I hath spent several moons training my own feathery partner, by feeding his ego when it is I can! You would be surprise how ready they are to stand beside you, when you fill their hearts with support and glee.

[ Also trouble! Such pride could often garner them in wrong ways. ]

Perhaps, but in my experience, letting one's ego go too far can to mistakes and missteps later on. I would rather he not carry on like this for too long.

[ Her ear flicker, and there's a low hum of her voice akin to a purr. As if she were rolling her r's quietly behind her lips, tiding a thought along. ]

It does, but life is a bit too short. At times, your best letting yourself enjoy the moment to its fullest. Even if a few moons come to pass. Never know what may come upon you next, having ones happiness stripped from you! Have you fed their ego too? Gift them an array of gyshal greens!

[Rose actually gave a bitter laugh at the whole "life is too short." After thousands of years, her life was anything but short.]

Life may be short for some, and I am very much aware of how quickly one's happiness can be taken away. It is best to be prepared so that when the worst happens, it is not as devastating a blow.

[ Listening to the tone of her voice, the bitter laugh that comes into the air. Delights Nana in a way, theres a story hidden there. Although not for her to hear - she presumes, the Miqo'te at least toys with saying as much. ]

You sound alike one who has seen many summers sssspill into the winds? Such people I have kindred spirit over! Many histories you've seen I'm sure.

[ She at least thinks they are Elezen, or alike the Viera of her home world. What is a century to them but a passing moment of time. Perhaps the woman in the call is like this way, Nana peers into the video with interest all the same. ]

[Rose frowns at the other woman.]

It is dangerous to start assuming things about people you do not know.

[Especially when it comes off as trying to dig up information that the other doesn't wish to share with anyone.]

Oh? Is it so wrong to want to learn more about someone when we are all people coming from other worlds? [ Nana retorts sweetly, with a finger wisping through the air. ] Thankfully we are all allowed choice, and can easily say no. That said it was a guess from what you said, in my world there are people who have lived for eras. A normal sort of thing, among our folk.

Some people do not wish to share such information.

[Especially if they know that their life would be disturbing to others.]

The one thing I will say is, that it is not normal where I am from. I am still human.

I can understand that, hm? Human? Your world doesn't have any other races?

[ Nana cants her head quizzically thinking on this. ]

You'll need to instill discipline, though. Do you train with him? Then you need go get back on track with that.

[Nope, not helping at all! The phoenix puffs up more with pride]

Discipline and training is not the issue. We train and he has no problem listening to commands. It is just when we are not training he does this.

I see. [ So much for her advice! She's not quite sure what to say, now. ] I'm sure it'll pass, but there's nothing wrong with being happy, is there? Even if weeks have passed, something good to happen to someone is still worth celebrating.

[ She certainly still feels proud for winning in the part of the tournament she participated in! ]

Being happy is one thing. Being overly boastful is another. I suppose that I should be grateful that he does not actually talk.

[Though, for some reason, she does understand him to a point. It's not with words though. It's something different, like the way she used to understand dragons back in her home world.]

Do not get me wrong, I am proud of him for winning the tournament. I just do not want his pride to blind him in the long run.

Well... do you think it will?

[ It's not rhetorical; Weiss wants to know what she thinks! ]

You could do things that the two of you don't normally do— you know, to get out of your comfort zones. It could help ground him. And you, too, if you think you need it.

[Rose is quiet for a few seconds before she answers.]

The possibility of that are low, but that does not mean it will never happen. Nothing is truly absolute.

[But what was said next did get her attention.]

That was probably the best advice I had heard regarding this situation so far.

[Definitely better than threatening to drop kick a bird]

We will just have to try and find something different to do together.

[ Please don't drop kick the bird??? Weiss looks worried. ]

What have other people said, exactly?

Well, one admitted that she has threatened to drop kick her familiar. But to be fair, that familiar does seem to have a rather "difficult" personality.

[So honestly she cannot blame the girl for using that method.]

And the other pretty much just encouraged his ego which was the opposite of helping.

Well, I'm happy to be of service.

[ She's not usually the best at giving advise, after all! So this is great for her. ]

And I hope you won't be violent towards your familiar.

[ It's still so cute... ]
