[When Gundham starts the video, one thing is certain. While his outfit is similar to what he normally wears it's definitely... different. Several vines wrapped around his arms like snakes and his overall demeanor is more... determined.]

I have been here for some time now. Almost a year by my count. During that time I've had time to think. Too much time. But, I've come to a conclusion. Everyone that is brought here seems to have some talent or aptitude that furthers this place's goal, some history that makes them a candidate for being here. My talent is not one that is generally suited to the tasks laid out before us, though my history is.

A friend once told me that the future is not a river flowing immutably in one direction, but more like the ocean. You can try to go anywhere, though it doesn't mean you'll always reach your destination. However, the friends that I've made and comrades I vowed to survive with have had that future taken from them and so, I've made a decision.

I will not cling to hope blindly, nor will I let despair dictate my life anymore. I will take hold of my own future, embrace my path, and become the villain this place needs, for the sake of those left behind.

[That last remark is said with a slightly different cadence. He's choosing his words very carefully as if to get the attention of someone.]

And Mukuro, we need to talk.

[Oh- it had been a while since she'd seen Gundham around, and part of her had started to wonder if he'd vanished. She still...wasn't sure what she thought of him, or how to deal with him, and to that end they'd largely settled for ignoring each other.

The mention of 'hope' and 'despair' was what caught her attention first. Of course it was. But then...]

Unfortunately, it's not a new look for me. It is the raiment I wore as I rained terror on the land.

The title of villain was thrust upon me in my world, and given the nature of this place I can only assume the reasoning behind the title to be part of why I'm here. Considering the plight my world is in, and the state of my comrades, there are no lows to which I would not sink to see them saved.

So if I'm understanding correctly, the world called you evil itself- was it for bloodshed at your hand? We're alike, you and I... But I imagine you realised that from when we spoke before. My tale was no more a 'myth' than yours was a 'story'.

Villainy is a relative term, thrust upon others based on perspective. For as long as I can remember, such a thing has been thrust upon me for the sheer sin of my existence. I will not deny that I have since done things to earn such a title, however regardless of my actions I would be seen in such a light.

As such, I will embrace the title. I will do what needs to be done, even as others lack the will to do so. While the world I come from is beyond saving, my comrades are not. They at least deserve a chance.

There is no plan as of yet. This is largely... for my own benefit. To embrace the specter of who I was at my lowest so that I might do what is necessary to save those I left behind in my world.

Kadoc himself had advocated for a deliberate split in ranks during the recent Celliwig incident to maintain the impression that they're a mixed group of dark and light personalities, since that seems to be important here, at least by some measures.

There's no accounting for the future, which is like a vast ocean, without considering the role your destiny plays in it — like a ship. You may not end up where you think you were headed... but you can take it into your own hands, like you said. We have no control of the tides, but we can set the course. And I think the universe has enough villains.

Villainy is - like most things - relative. One man's villain is another's hero. A victim from one perspective a criminal receiving justice from another. The title has been thrust upon me for as long as I can remember, and I have neither the time nor the patience to refuse it.

I will do what must be done, what others think of me for that is not my concern.

When Hijikata first catches Gundham's broadcast he forcibly holds himself back from calling in purely to chew him out - it'd be no use; an up-and-coming teenage villain would only feel egged on by a pissy cop. But that last bit completely changes his priorities, and he loses no time starting a private call. If Gundham accepts it he'll immediately get a question thrown at him without any kind of preamble.]

What Mukuro are we talking about here?

[Gundham arches an eyebrow, unsure of just why someone would be calling him on a secure line so soon after the post. This wasn't Mukuro calling after all, and he'd not met whoever this is. Of course the question being blurted at him as soon as he answered was... slightly confusing. He wasn't expecting anyone but Mukuro to pick up on the name.]

There is only one in this place, and if you do not know them I am not inclined to simply explain to a stranger.

[Gundham was tempted to leave it at that and hang up on Hijikata, but his curiosity had gotten the better of him. Was this someone from their world he simply hadn't met yet?]

[Gundham simply arches an eyebrow. This was... a unique person. One he's not seen before. His face remains unchanged however.]

I care not for the world I came from. It is already dead. However, I do have comrades that survive yet and I would see them saved from this... calamity that supposedly looms.

What will I do? [Gundham leans forward, emotion seeming to drain from his features, the red contact he wears on one eye catching the light just right to glint slightly.]

What I always have. Whatever it takes.
