gundhamster: (All before me despair)

[When Gundham starts the video, one thing is certain. While his outfit is similar to what he normally wears it's definitely... different. Several vines wrapped around his arms like snakes and his overall demeanor is more... determined.]

I have been here for some time now. Almost a year by my count. During that time I've had time to think. Too much time. But, I've come to a conclusion. Everyone that is brought here seems to have some talent or aptitude that furthers this place's goal, some history that makes them a candidate for being here. My talent is not one that is generally suited to the tasks laid out before us, though my history is.

A friend once told me that the future is not a river flowing immutably in one direction, but more like the ocean. You can try to go anywhere, though it doesn't mean you'll always reach your destination. However, the friends that I've made and comrades I vowed to survive with have had that future taken from them and so, I've made a decision.

I will not cling to hope blindly, nor will I let despair dictate my life anymore. I will take hold of my own future, embrace my path, and become the villain this place needs, for the sake of those left behind.

[That last remark is said with a slightly different cadence. He's choosing his words very carefully as if to get the attention of someone.]

And Mukuro, we need to talk.

[With that, he ends the feed.]

I'm gonna let the honorable people you're talking about have the inevitable argument with you themselves. They're not gonna let you step in to take on that burden so easily. But you probably know that. Overall, this isn't a bad thing. . . . In other words, I agree with you. The fae value us for having dark and light aspects to our personalities. Magic comes in Dark and Light, too. This doesn't seem like the kinda place where the way forward is for a bunch of pure-hearted heroes to always do the most moral thing.

[He reflexively smiles, darkly amused, at the first part. Now that's a sentence he can relate to. No one in their right mind would ever deliberately choose Kadoc at this point to save a world. But that aside—]

We passed Celliwig's trials. I heard we only passed because we weren't too good for them, or too bad. They take that kinda thing seriously. On top of that, something serious and unplanned came up with Arthur on a business trip to Celliwig, and as far as I can tell, they're impressed we managed to play both sides of that one too. They obviously won't cooperate with a united front.
