[When Gundham starts the video, one thing is certain. While his outfit is similar to what he normally wears it's definitely... different. Several vines wrapped around his arms like snakes and his overall demeanor is more... determined.]

I have been here for some time now. Almost a year by my count. During that time I've had time to think. Too much time. But, I've come to a conclusion. Everyone that is brought here seems to have some talent or aptitude that furthers this place's goal, some history that makes them a candidate for being here. My talent is not one that is generally suited to the tasks laid out before us, though my history is.

A friend once told me that the future is not a river flowing immutably in one direction, but more like the ocean. You can try to go anywhere, though it doesn't mean you'll always reach your destination. However, the friends that I've made and comrades I vowed to survive with have had that future taken from them and so, I've made a decision.

I will not cling to hope blindly, nor will I let despair dictate my life anymore. I will take hold of my own future, embrace my path, and become the villain this place needs, for the sake of those left behind.

[That last remark is said with a slightly different cadence. He's choosing his words very carefully as if to get the attention of someone.]

And Mukuro, we need to talk.

impressions are everything.

playing the villain can be an extremely powerful tool for accomplishing your goals. i used it for almost my entire adult life.

whether its noble or not ultimately doesnt matter, the results are the things that matter most. i ended the countless petty wars of small minded daimyo, and helped usher in a centuries long era of peace, even if i didnt live to see it.

but i had to become that villain to do so. i had to play that part.

If what you say is true, then we are more alike than I initially thought. However, what makes you think I am simply playing a role? After all, the blood of innocents flows like a river at my feet.

You misunderstand. It was not ambition that stoked the flames that brought my world to ruin. The flames I fanned. It was war without cause. Violence for the sake of violence. Despair fueled those flames, and the whole world burned for it.

u dont think destruction is its own ambition? someone who wants to burn the world around them doesnt want to half-ass that job. they want blood. they want to feel that blood. whether its some desperate misguided attempt to heal their own wounds or not, its still ambition. their goal is to devastate, and so they do just that.

You'll forgive me if I am not wholly sure I understand. What I have seen was not driven. It was not ambitious. It was the slow decay of a world that ultimately ended itself.

some things just become more obvious with experience. dont worry too much about it, for now. its not like u or i have the ability to end this world.
