Why would I dispel my main source of power? How silly.

Not dispell your own, but others magic. Like you cut them but instead of harming them it depowers them! Or something.

The flames just sound like a neat idea. Like who would mess with a guy with a flaming sword???

I'll say up front that my fighting style is a bit... different from your average sword user's. But a blade that can also conjure a shield is a handy thing to have available for me.

You make a good point. I usually go without a shield or, if I have to, I use my poisons for that purpose.

I tend to err on the side of endurance over sheer strength. So the more shields I can establish, the longer I can hold out and potentially wear the enemy down.

What types of magic do you have? Perhaps something that synergizes well with what you already possess is worth considering.

One of my old swords had reactive seals on it that activated when I parried a blow. I kinda miss that thing, sometimes.

Depends on the seal, but most of the time the end result bound their movement in some way.

How can magic be cut? Does that stop a spell from taking effect?

So, my sword is made out of a particular metal called Primium, which is powerfully, powerfully antimagick. It can slice through... well, better to say it can disrupt spells, either incoming ones or existing ones. Without getting too much into detail on that... But I figure someone could achieve the same effect with a fixated antimagic or dispel field. Siphoning, around here.
