Video | UN: hijikata | Irregular Quest: Keep a Man out of the Sun for a Day
[It's after dinnertime on another rainy evening when a new video pops up on AOL. Hijikata has never posted anything on the network before (beyond responses to other people), so he's not exactly a familiar face... but those who do know him may be surprised by the changes to his outfit and the large black wings on his back. He looks a lot more composed than usual and gives the camera a slow blink before starting to speak.]
My name is Arashi. I am the familiar of Hijikata-san, whose body I am inhabiting by means of familiar fusion to bring you this message. I am afraid that I find myself in need of some assistance.
[He seems to be in a hotel room, and attentive listeners may be able to catch the occasional high-pitched little noise in the background, as if there were guinea pigs or other small pets running around. Arashi keeps a straight face.]
It has come to my attention that Hijikata-san has been struggling to reverse the impact of the wishes that were made about two months ago. I cannot maintain the familiar fusion state for very long, so I seek the support of anyone willing and able to keep him away from the sunlight for a day.
[What the reclusive crow tengu isn't telling the viewers: due to the heavy rains he decided to check on his bond partner, only to find his hotel room full of mayonnaise mascots. When the flooding began Hijikata had fetched them in a panic from the smallholding farm the owners of which had been letting him keep them in an enclosure, and their presence immediately made it clear to Arashi that he never fixed his messed-up magic. Hijikata had just finished preparing a familiar fusion essence in his room for later use in an emergency, and ultimately it was used much sooner as a result of the ensuing fight.]
Please come to Room 306 at the main inn if you are interested. I cannot offer gold, but I am able to train users of wind magic and help awaken it for novice users of elemental magic, or otherwise I can offer some rare items.
Just as a warning, there are some... creatures here.
[The mayonnaise mascots are harmless, but kind of creepy looking in his opinion. They are unnatural, wholly unnatural. The sooner they disappear the better.]
(OOC: This is open for anyone, no dibs (after all we've got time loops happening around here!). Villains and pranksters are also welcome (after all Arashi is such an absent familiar that he wouldn't be able to tell who Hijikata's friends are, or if he has any at all). Your kind is certainly admirable. You are tenacious and resilient.
[Honestly, he doesn't like humans very much. Sure, there are some good eggs, but on the whole they're loud and destructive, primitive-minded and short-lived, yet fertile enough to far outnumber the youkai population. One could say that he views them with about as much disdain as humans view mice or rats or city pigeons. He thought he made a wise choice in bonding with Hijikata since he has a reputation as a skilled samurai, but even that man is so goddamn weird and giving him so much grief... it's not improving his opinion.]

You bastard!! This is how you stab me in the back?! This whole possession act aside, do you have any idea how much time and money I spent on that elixir?!
[Arashi deadpans at him from his (presumable) position of either lying on top of Darin or being awkwardly wedged against him, then blows Hijikata away with his wind magic, sending him flying right into an armchair.]
Hijikata-san, please calm down. This intervention is much needed.
No worries I've been busy as hell these last few days!
First order of business though.
[He motions to the mayo mascots.]

[Arashi closes his eyes and covers his bird head with one wing, looking suspiciously like he's face-palming. He clearly wishes he were somewhere else.]

[Who or what is Darin's familiar anyway? Hijikata has never seen it... oh well, he can figure that out later when his fight (no flight) impulse isn't at 100%. It's on!! They're going to roughly brawl in this poor little hotel room (
if Darin has no tricks up his sleeve and if Arashi doesn't intervene). Hijikata's elaborate plan that he just thought up in 0.5 seconds consists of throwing Darin down, banging his hard head on the floor a few times, stuffing him in the bag while he's dazed, and tying it at the top with the toughest knot he knows.]no subject

[Either Hijikata was going to charge him, in which case, I guess they're brawling, or he'll stop to listen to Darin for a moment.]

[Sadly Hijikata isn't the most coolheaded person. As soon as he see Darin put his foot down on one of his precious Mayorins he lunges to throw him down before he can squash it. While he has a decent chance of succeeding at that it's doubtful if he'll manage to stay on top of Darin, or if Darin can use the momentum to pin him and get a word in... and then there's still Arashi, who's keeping a watchful eye on the scene and is ready to intervene with his wind magic if necessary.]
