[There is a cat on the screen. A white cat wearing a red collar sporting a small silver bell and a green, tear-drop shaped pendant. He looks at the communication device for several moments with a pair of sharp, vivid green eyes.

Then the cat speaks.]

Ah, good, it's working.

[The cat's voice sounds... more or less as you might expect a cat to sound. He doesn't have a human voice, but rather the various sounds a feline might make are twisted around into entirely coherent words. He shifts in place, adjusting the position of his small white paws.]

I thought it best to get this out of the way as quickly as possible, having no wish to spend another year explaining that I am not someone's familiar. [His ears flick back momentarily.]

Nor am I a human choosing to look like this, or a simple housecat. Do not treat me as such. [The talking part probably gave that last bit away, but he's met a lot of stupid people. Mogget pauses here, and lets out a quiet sigh.

He ends the communication there, though one might hear a mutter of '--don't know why I bother' just before it shuts off.]

Oh, so you're used to magic where you came from? Yeah, I can see how that would be annoying.

Is the magic here different compared to the magic where you're from? Other than forcing you to learn specific kinds, I mean.

I wasn't speaking of where I came from originally, but yes, you could say the same is true for the Old Kingdom as well.

[Though he's restrained there, too. Much to his consistent annoyance.]

And both were very different.

Wait, so you mean you were in a world other than your homeworld before this?

Precisely. A world called Geardagas.

[Surprisingly similar to this one. He wonders if there's a pattern.]

It is of some help when it comes to grasping what's happening.

Yeah, I bet it really does help. I'm not really new to the idea of other worlds, but it's the first time something like this has really happened to me.

I helps, but it's aggravating at the same time. I'm no wiser as to why this happened, and I don't know why it happened again.

[Never mind the fact that by rights he shouldn't be able to be yanked about like this at all.]

You don't think that it just kinda...happens at random?

[ Honestly, it made some sense to her, especially since she was here when certain other people from her world around. Others who might be better suited for this kind of thing. ]

I don't believe anything happens at random.

[Especially not things like this. He doesn't quite believe the reason that they're given for being here either. There has to be something more to it.]

And I don't believe in coincidences. There's a reason we're all here, it's just a matter of finding out what it is.

[ She considers that for a moment. ] How would we even go about finding out something like that?

The likely eventuality is that we don't.

[He didn't say anything about it being easy. Mogget yawns widely, his teeth clicking together audibly when his jaw shuts again.]

However, while not all things are meant to be known, but that doesn't mean that they can't be discovered. There are some bright minds here, are there not? Is no one trying to find out?

I'm sure there are. [ She isn't really sure, she's still rather new. But she can't imagine people aren't wondering. ] It's just a question of where to start.

That is the question, isn't it.

[While Mogget isn't really actively doing any research of the sort, he can cast his mind around for where he might begin if he was going to.]

Were I curious enough, I would begin with the king.

King Arthur? Yeah, I guess that would make sense.

[ She's not sure she'd really be actively looking either. While she's gotten better at gathering information, she's a bit out of her depths here. ]

[If cats can be said to be able to make facial expressions, Mogget certainly looks a little wry at the moment.]

Should I ever happen to feel curious enough, I shall be sure to let you know what he tells me.

[ She laughs a little. ] I'd appreciate that, thanks.

And hey, if I ever get around to asking him, I'll do the same.
