[Alice shifts the device backwards after she turns it on and smiles at it. She's in the Inn for the observant. Her big silver tabby with his sharp claws and even sharper fangs is asleep on her bed. Or, well, he LOOKS asleep but an ear is turned towards Alice.]

Oh ah, I beg your pardon, please. My name is Alice Liddell, how do you do?

[She offers a curtsy to the device. The tabby seemed to purr, perhaps he picked Alice for her manners.]

I do apologize as I'm about to add to all the questions, I hope it's alright? Oh- but that isn't the question, you see!

What I was wondering, and hoping someone might have the answer, is- is there a school? [Whether or not she needs to attend can be asked AFTER she knows if there is one.]

Also, does anyone else have control over various elements? I've never had any powers before you see, or well, you don't as I didn't have them, but I do have them now! I was wondering if anyone is very skilled at them. I...

[She glanced at the singed napkin near the microwave of the room.]

I had a bit of an... accidental incident earlier with fire and would like to not to... that is, not have any more incidents on accident. [The silver tabby's ear flicked and his tail swished.]

Creatures? What sort of creatures?

Well, there are plenty of things older people can do, it doesn't make it any less impressive.

[Ken didn't say anything at first. Instead, there was a thoughtful look as he wondered what to say next.

How does he explain this to a 7 year old?]

Let's just say the creatures I fought are about bad emotions. You know how if you don't talk about something, it will turn out badly? It's kind of the same thing.

Goodness! That's very brave of you, Mr. Ken. So you fight bad emotions? Do you fight them with their opposite? So do you fight sadness with happiness?

More like we fight them with a being called a Persona. We have to summon them so we can fight those bad emotions taking form before they can hurt anyone else.

[Pause]

But don’t worry, it’s not as dangerous as it sounds!

[Which is a complete lie but he’s not scaring her!]

How did you even find out about these creatures, Mr. Ken?

[There were so many thoughts running through his mind. How can he come up with something where he wasn't telling the truth but he also wasn't completely lying?]

I had a couple of friends back home who told me about it. There was only certain people who can see the creatures so when I found out I could, I knew I had to fight them!

[Pause] It only seems fair to help and protect people, right?

Are those same monsters here?

Yes... I suppose so...

No, they aren't so you don't have to worry about those here!

And if the monsters here do bother you, I'll help fight them off. I don't want you to feel like you're scared or there isn't anyone who can't help you.

You're a very good friend, Mr. Ken, and we've only just met.

It only seems fair because you’re unfamiliar with using magic. I know I’m still learning how to use it myself but I have an advantage in fighting. I can’t leave someone on their own without helping.

[An even longer pause] I don’t think your parents or my leader would be happy if I did.

Well, what about YOUR parents?

[Ken didn't say anything and let the silence continue. He kept on looking at the screen before giving a small sigh.]

I don't have any. My mom's dead and I don't even know my dad.

Oh... I'm really very sorry, Mr. Ken. I didn't know you were an orphan.

It’s okay, Alice-san! I’m use to it by now, I managed to get by! It’s really nothing I can’t handle.

[Pause]

But anyway, if you need help with learning how to use your magic just let me know. [And totally not avoiding the subject]

I will definitely need help with my magic. I've never had magic before.

Then do you want me to come over to help you out? I know I need practice on my animal magic too.

Oh ah, perhaps later. I'm meeting with Mr. Nero to go see the school and sign up for it. Would that be alright?
