[Rose is in her room with several books. Looks like someone has been studying up on their magic. Though, in her case, the books that she had focused on Dark magic. From the way she was frowning at the one book currently in her hand, it was clear that she came across something that she didn't like.]

I know that the magic here works differently from the magic of my home world. Here anyone can use it while back in my world, for humans to use magic, they needed some kind of enchanted object to do so. I, myself, used such an object to cast Dark magic spells.

[She sighed and closed the book]

There are somethings about the Dark magic here that is similar to what I was able to do back in my world. Manipulate shadows and cause pain without physical injury are similar to what I already know. Curses and Hexes are something new to me though. But this...

[She holds up the book that was on a certain section of Dark magic. The section on Love enchantments. And boy, does Rose ever look annoyed about it.]

Who thought that this kind of nonsense should be a part of Dark magic? If I didn't need to know at least the basics of these kinds of spells in order to master Dark magic here, I would not even bother with it!

[Rose's reaction to that left Hawk laughing his ass off. It was funny alone, but even more so when Hawk could imagine someone who would likely end up with dark magic if he ever showed up here having a similar reaction. When he responds his tone still sounds highly amused.]

Calling it love is stupid. It's clear it's inspiring lust. You don't think it's very dark, just think back to the trials and the one with the creature that screwed with our desires.

[Rose is quiet for a second. She really didn't want to think about that again. In fact, she would rather forget that trial all together, even though she passed.]

Perhaps, but that still does not give me any practical use for it unless I want to trick someone. Which I do not care for such childishness.

Self-defense. Use it on some pissed off creature that wants to kill you or wreck shit. Easier than it sounds because it's called "bloodlust" for a good reason.

[As he well knows since his partner in that trial used that to bring him back to sanity, even if it was accidental.]

Thus, if the spell is done badly, it could end up pissing off the creature even more. Honestly I would rather use a regular curse for defense if that were the case.

Which of course is guaranteed if you're gonna think like that. Bring someone along to help if the creature gets more pissed until you got it down if you have to. I'd be fine with dealing with the potential of more pissed off creature. Could be quite fun even.

Oh I get it. Sounds like about as much as I want to touch earth magic. [Seriously, he'd find love enchantments more entertaining than the bore of an element that he has yet to use.] Except I'll have to spend a lot more time mastering something I hate than you will.

What is wrong with earth magic? [She had seen a fellow Dragoon who did earth magic to be quite helpful in a battle.]

I'd think that would be obvious for a guy who's got wings like a bird and can fly. Relying on earth feels like I'm clipping my own wings.

Where I am from, all Dragoons can fly. Including the one who commanded earth magic. For me, it does not sound like you will be clipping your wings.

Hmm, I wonder what this is reminding me of? Maybe your view on love enchantments?
