video: Avatar Arrival --> In person
[When the feed comes on it's clearly accidental. There is a close up of a pair of eyes, and a tattooed blue arrow on his forehead.]
Ok, so, screen towards me. Check.
[They glanced sideways and there was the sound of paper rustling.]
So the apple...no, app is open, ok. That's what they said. Wait, is it on?
[He steps back suddenly, revealing a sixteen-year-old in orange and yellow robes. He's smiling, and waves.]
Oh, hello. My name is Aang, and I've just -
[It's then that it turns out the camera was not t all securely placed, as it tumbles off of it's place, with there only time for a 'uh-oh' to be heard before the video feed cuts out. Technology isn't his forte, really. And he's a bit...discombobulated, really.]
But, in person...
But he's actually very easy to find, given his garb, and the staff at his side. The miniature skybison flying around him in a slow circle hardly hurts. The pixie sitting on his shoulder might be a little more familiar to the local population, though.
He's had some encounters, of course - and as he wanders he city, taking in the sights...he is bound to have many more.
But for a little while - just a little while - he isn't the Avatar. He's just a (relatively) normal teenager, who draws very little attention. For the moment, at least, he can just be Aang for the first time in his life.

[He fishes out a small piece of paper he'd acquired, and writes that down, just in case.]
But that's true...I like that part of all this.
omg i love the image of aang walking around town with a note in his pocket that says "david bowie"?!
[ Another "interesting" idea occurs to her. ]
I also met a duck!
[ Miwako... More explanation, please... Crazy, most fascinating cosmic encounters: Oda Nobunaga and a duck. ]
Well now it's canon
Wait, just a duck? Not a turtle-duck?
lol is he gonna look him up!? what david bowie music will aang find/like?! so funny, i'm dying rofl
[ An important question remains on her end, too, though. ]
What's a turtle-duck? Is that like a Lil Rabbear? Miwako had a Lil Rabbear as a kid...
I'm thinking Major Tom and Life on Mars. Maybe his Nature Boy cover from Moulin Rouge...
And yeah, you have the - you know - duck head, but then they have a shell for protection as they swim around the ponds and stuff.
excellent choice oohlala~ aang watching the video to life on mars is a whole aesthetic in itself lol

[There is one overriding concern.]
How do they make it without their shells?

[ She attaches a picture of a duck. Just a duck. ]

Wow! Will you look at that!

[ And likewise, she attaches a photo of a turtle. Just a turtle. ]
I don’t know about turtle-ducks, but there are many different kinds of ducks and turtles in my world... They all look different but they’re all pretty cute!

[It takes a few minutes while he pulls up the sketching app and...well, produces a not-bad drawing of a turtle duck]

Nope, not a clue. Are either of them like shadow puppets?

[ She can't help but laugh at this. She lives with a three-year-old. She's no stranger to shadow puppets. ]
Nee, you know how we're talking in videos right now — these moving pictures? Imagine a play made like this! Plus music! But you can watch it at home in your own time, it's not live! That's a movie~
A video game... is harder to explain. Let's start with movies, eheh~
