Hey, everyone! I know we've all gotten some new magic lately, and really to some of us, magic in general is new, but that's beside the point.
I've been thinking that those of us with computer magic should maybe all get together and have a sharing of our information. It's always much more fun to figure things out in a group!
Maybe just introduce yourself and we'll come up with a place and time to meet!
Oh, right. I'm Matt Holt, Space Nerd, and astronaut, presently back home captured by aliens.
So, uh... hi?
[Maybe this wasn't as good of an idea as he thought when he started.]

Wait, Matt? As in... Matt who's friends with Shiro-san?
[She'd dropped off Shiro's White Day chocolates and note at his address, of course, but she thought it might be intrusive to do so in person. She has some limits.]

So, you're one of the people he met here, then?

Yup~ Kino Makoto! I work at the Shining Karaoke Bar with Shiro-san. Nice to finally meet you!

I also have what I like to call a space sword. I made it myself from a meteorite.

Smartphones are pretty cool. Even when they're not really that smart. I can maybe help you a bit if you wanted.
Oh, man alive, that sounds amazing! I'd love to see that! I just have my staff, but it's collapsible and electric? Not as cool as a meteorite sword, though.

Computer, space nerd, astronaut.
Are you sure you should boast about being captured by foreigners? Does that truly not matter?

So computers are machines, like these devices that we're using now that can process information really fast, and connect to other devices and share information of all sorts. Some are big and powerful, some are tiny and powerful, some just have one function. Back home, pretty much everything runs on computers.
As for the rest, an astronaut is someone who goes off of the planet Earth to explore and do scientific research about planets or space itself beyond where we live. I'm mostly the scientific end, as well as running communications. Being a space nerd just means I love the fascination of outer space.
And... it doesn't really matter. Just... a pain in the tail. Aliens, as in people from other planets, aren't very often believed in at home.

Computers power smart phones, have I got that correct?
Amazing... [Shakes his head... and just laughs.] I don't know that I would have believed it very easily either! But I'm from only a few decades after guns were introduced to Japan.
How do... you merge magic and technology?

You may call me Thrawn.

What kind of technology do you have on your world, if you don't mind me asking? Knowing where we all started from is probably pretty important.

Does that give you a baseline?

But I have to wonder if all magics are as well-suited to discussing in such a public way. My cognitive magic seems to make people uncomfortable as it is. A whole group of us, discussing the best way to control people... it would seem suspect, wouldn't it?
no subject
Hm. Well, perhaps if you were framing it more of 'how not to misuse the ability to control others via their minds' it wouldn't seem as sketchy?
Not that I think you'd be sketchy! I didn't mean that!
[Foot in mouth syndrome is a Holt specialty.]

Nor can I blame them. I know what's truly important is not the nature of the magic, but how it's used, but... still.

Oddly enough I was also captured by aliens once. Not a pleasant experience, honestly. I hope things go all right for you once you get back home.

Mechanics isn't really my strong suit, but I've done a bit of work in that area. I'm more communications and experimentation.
Really? Huh. Maybe we should start a club. Mine... wasn't fun, but at least I was able to escape.

Maybe "developed" isn't the right word, I have no idea how to control it. This is nothing like the magic I'm used to.
Text | un: SpaceHobo
I'm not even sure if I know how to control it either. That's somewhat why I suggested people coming together to see what we could come up with. More minds are better, after all!
