Hey, everyone! I know we've all gotten some new magic lately, and really to some of us, magic in general is new, but that's beside the point.

I've been thinking that those of us with computer magic should maybe all get together and have a sharing of our information. It's always much more fun to figure things out in a group!

Maybe just introduce yourself and we'll come up with a place and time to meet!

Hm. Well, perhaps if you were framing it more of 'how not to misuse the ability to control others via their minds' it wouldn't seem as sketchy?

Well, if you did suggest it, you wouldn't be the first. And I'd like to believe it isn't my own fault!

Nor can I blame them. I know what's truly important is not the nature of the magic, but how it's used, but... still.

It isn't your fault. People like to say that everyone who does this or that thing is The Worst just because it's something that exists.

I wish I could make people realize that it's how things are used rather than just the existence of something in someone's life.

When that thing is overriding their autonomy, however briefly? As I said, I can't blame them for that. Though despite how dubious it seems, it's had more than it's fair share of uses already... at one point guiding a person, as if I were steering them like the castle-ship.

[It's like hacking a computer, except that it's a human brain. Not being from Earth, Allura has no idea about things like white hat hackers.]

And yet, I can't say I don't have my own doubts each time that I use it.

There's actually been a lot of research on Earth, not necessarily about hacking brains, but hacking people's computers and information. And sometimes tapping into that can be useful because if you know what you're doing, and someone else doesn't, you can find things they've missed.

I guess with everything, it's consent that makes the difference. If I know you're going to steer me, I'm less likely to care, than if I'm suddenly flailing across the park, if that makes any sense.

Things they've missed? What, like data that's been misplaced?

But yes, asking for consent before I use the hypnosis is how I've made peace with it. ... well, unless it's an adversary, since that would defeat the purpose. [But still, nothing that sounds like it would be an intergalactic war crime.]
