< thearchitect > Seeking assistance
[ Attached is a picture of one of the spider nests in the Red Hills. It's from a wary distance but there are no spiders visible; only their many, many webs. The picture comes with a VOICED message: ]
I had thought to tackle this task myself, but I quite overestimated the number of arachnids here. I would like to collect some of this venom for myself in addition to what this quest asks, and for that I require some help.
[ A pause. ]
A healer would be a boon but I care not so long as you are capable.

[ Bakugou is mildly impressed indeed. All of this so far has been effective. He's already looking around and scoping out another spider to bring down. ]
sorry for wait!!
[ He's ready to catch the next spider Bakugou drops. His familiar, having dropped down to perch on top of the spider's makeshift cage, growls in anticipation. It lifts its head and snaps at a spider hanging nearby. ]
no subject
[ Because Bakugou will send a blast towards the spiders in the shadows of course. Not a fire blast. More like a flashbang of light to blind and disorient! ]

For the last, he weaves the ceruleum into a more complex form: a fiery bird that streams forward and scatters the remaining creatures. The heat from it is no worse than a single bullet despite appearances. Emet-Selch manages to isolate one more spider and trap it as the rest vanish back into their nest. ]
no subject
No, they're going to hang back and maybe look for an opportunity. Or leave the other two exposed to die. ]
All right. So how do we get the venom.
[ It's not like he's ever milked a spider before. ]
no subject
I...presume 'tis like milking a snake. I brought vials.
[ He slides one out from a sturdy box pouch on his belt and approaches one of the cages. ]
--Now, how to have it bite the vial and not my arm...?
no subject
Live rat on a stick?
[ Probably should have thought of something like that beforehand, huh? ]
Tch. Should have found some sort of sleep charm or dumb shit like that.
no subject
Do sleep spells exist in this world...? No matter. Neither of us possess such a magick.
[ The vial is small... Perhaps he can create an arm of stone to hold it with? ]
Could you help me gather some stones? Not the brittle kind. Just pile them here.
no subject
[ Because yeah. Neither one of them have the capability. So there's no reason to think about it now. Bakugou just starts snatching up rocks - ones that look like they are actually going to hold together - and starts stacking them. ]
Gonna explain or no?
no subject
[ He also adds some stones to the pile, checking over Katsuki's with a satisfied nod. ]
I will make a handle with a slot for the vial on the end. Then we may insert it through these bars and bait the arachnid into biting the top.
no subject
Gonna make one or two of these things?
[ and will it be the old man baiting or the both of them? ]
no subject
[ Many hands make light work, as the saying goes. Once there is a sufficient quantity of stone, he splits them into two, roughly equal piles, and draws a circle on a page in his grimoire. Activating this circle produces a small flash of light - tada! First one then two stone handles with rings at the end form from the rocks. All one has to do is slot the vial in through the aperture. ]
Do be careful not to drop the vial. I only have so many of those and 'tis impossible to make glass out of the earth here.
no subject
I ain't gonna drop it.
[ Bakugou is meticulous, not clumsy. He might have a loud and flashy style of going about things, but everything is done seriously. So he's going to take the aperture once the old man is finished. ]
Just get the thing to bite down, right?
no subject
[ He slips the handle and its precious vial between the bars of the nearest trap and pokes the spider with the end. It shrinks in, its multitude of eyes glaring at him and at the intrusive item prodding it. ]
Hmm...
[ He gestures for his familiar to circle around. It snaps its jaws near the spider's huddled form. Thus provoked, it lunges forward and attempts to bite the stone arm Emet is holding through the bars. Venom trickles into the vial - and all around it as well. It's quick to let go and the Ascian quickly withdraws his makeshift tool, inspecting the takings. ]
Inelegant, but it will do. How do you fare?
no subject
When he's ready for it, Katsuki lets the spider do just that. It gets its fang stuck in the vial and there comes that venom. ]
Looks like I got a bite.
no subject
[ He repeats the trick on the remaining captive until the spiders wise up to what he's doing and stop taking his bait. All in all, he's pleased as he inspects the vials of venom they've taken together. ]
Time to let them scurry home. Would you like to do the honour of freeing them, my boy?
[ He gestures to the earthen cages, smirking slightly. He's not quite proficient enough to break them down himself right now. ]
no subject
I guess if I have to.
[ The only thing that Bakugou can think of doing is shooting down some beams of light that solidify into barriers - almost like blades severing the earth's grip on the spiders. Then they disappear almost instantly. ]
no subject
He carefully cleans off the vials they managed to collect and slots them back into place on his belt. ]
Let us be off then before they decide to attack us again. Would you like to take one of these vials yourself for the quest-giver?
no subject
[ He looks at the way that the vials are placed on the belt. It's probably better that the old man holds onto them for now. ]
That was kind of the purpose. Wish I'd gotten another one though.
[ to give to a certain nerd who would probably want to fuss with that venom. Augh. ]
no subject
[ He starts walking at a brisk pace away from the spiders' lair. His voice is light and humorous as he asks the question. ]
no subject
[ WHY DO PEOPLE ASK HIM THESE SORTS OF THINGS!? ]
It's for the shitty nerd back at the house!
no subject
And who might they be? I have never heard of a 'nerd' before.
no subject
[ Bullshit this old man doesn't know what one is! ]
And this one happens to not be any of your business.
no subject
[ No, he doesn't. Still, once they're safely away from the spiders' territory, he takes out two vials and turns, holding them out for Bakugou to take. ]
My thanks again, for your help. You know the way back to the city, yes?
no subject
[ Hoo boy whats the old man going to do when he finds out that Bakugou and Deku are "good friends?" Probably nothing, but it's an interesting dynamic all the same.
Regardless of all of that, Katsuki is snatching up the vials. He looks surprised for a moment that he's being thanked. The blonde huffs and bunches his shoulders. A bit embarrassing, honestly. ]
Yeah, yeah. I know how to get back.
