I am...Nigihayami Kohakunushi, but you may call me Kohaku or Haku. ( The voice belongs to a boy who looks like he is no older than twelve. His expression is impassive, the grey-green of his eyes as difficult to read as murky water.

Behind him, there is a dragon with a long skinny body, short legs and tufts of hair on his head, neck and tail. He gives a mighty yawn, showing pointed teeth. )

I am new to Camelot, though I believe I have heard of it. In my world it was thought to only be a legend, but that could be a consequence of distance and not the truth.

I hope to make friends and regain - ( He stops himself, looking around warily. If another witch is causing this, he doesn't want to take chances and speak out of turn. ) Never mind.

This is my familiar. ( Turning, at last, to the awaiting dragon, he lays a hand on the spirit's head. ) Should you see him, do not fear him.

He is a water dragon. ( Much like he used to be - and will be again. ) Likewise. Have you lived here long?

Mwehehe, you could say I've encountered a few!

[ In videogames and anime. In the real world? No such encounters... but anyone who knows the bare minimum about Chinese mythology would recognise that type of dragon. ]

Tryin's a good start. People here don't seem to be bothered about dragons, at least.

[Robyn did have friends back home, though after she and her father moved she had a harder time making more since the children in town weren't exactly fond of anyone English. At least she'd been able to meet Mebh, for all that would bring.]

And you already have your familiar. Does he have a name yet?

That's a relief. ( The dragon huffs as if he knew that all along, however. ) If he and I are meant to be companions, I didn't want him hurt.

[Lightning is still getting used to this "online" thing—not that it was a foreign concept back on Cocoon, but it's definitely different, and that's more different than she would have preferred.

Still, she'd better start getting the hang of it now rather than when it's too late and she's the last person in Camelot to know how. Mogsby is the one showing her the ropes, so it'll be his round, red moogle nose that shows first in the video, with Lightning's voice and a spot of her pink hair behind him.

"And then you just turn this on, kupo!"]

Yours is a lot cuter than mine.

[She shoves the round white face away from the screen, and he flies off, his protests largely ignored.]

Does he have a name?

( He disagrees! Mogsby is adorable and Haku can't help smiling at the cute assistance. If he had asked his familiar for help, the dragon would have grumbled at him. The only time he seems to be happy is when he is splashing around in water! )

I think he would prefer to be handsome.

( What? He can't tease his new friend? The familiar nips at Haku's sleeve in retaliation. )

I was thinking Ao Guang after the Chinese deity, but I could choose a Japanese name too.

( Chinese dragons have five toes, typically, while Japanese dragons have three. His familiar seems to be...a combination...since he has four. )

I didn't realize you could have Atazara'an for a familiar here. I thought it could only be animals like boars or rabbits.

That's intriguing. I've never talked to anyone that's heard of Camelot before. We don't have any stories about that where I'm from.

[Gaius' world has plenty of other legends and folklore to replace that, however.]
