Fourth: Myths and Legends, backdated to Valentine's Evening (Video; un: Caster)
[There were advantages and disadvantages to using the money she'd gotten from carrying out Morgana's suspicious request in order to find a larger place to stay. On one hand, she had more space to keep her things and it didn't feel so cramped - she might even have room for a potion-brewing workshop at some point. On the other hand, yes, she had more space to herself, but it was Valentine's Day.
And she was here by herself, without the one person she wanted to spend it with.
After spending a week or so chasing around a man from her world who was responsible for her demise.
Desperate for something to take her mind off all of it, she took to the network to try and find a distraction.
Caster can be seen sitting in a darkened room, face and body mostly hidden by the shadows of her cloak. You know, because that totally didn't look ominous.]
For those who haven't met me yet- I am known as Caster. A pleasure.
As the people who've been brought here are from many different worlds, I can't help but be a little curious. Tell me, what myths and legends are the most well known, where you're from? What about those you personally find the most interesting?
I'd say that the Greek Myths are my personal area of interest, but... picking a favourite would be difficult.
[A hint to who she was, perhaps, but it wasn't as if she'd actually told many people she was a heroic spirit from myth - so it should be a safe comment.]
Either way, feel free to share. I'm curious to know who's myths overlap with the ones I know, as well as learn a little about other people's worlds.
[There was a short pause, before a dark smirk comes into her face. She may have been just a little bitter about the whole cupid arrow nonsense.]
...Ah, and Archer? If you're watching this, I will make you regret humiliating me with those arrows of yours-!

[She spends a little while staring at the username, trying to figure out if it was one of the ones she knew about...but no, that didn't really give much in the way of clues.]
what can i call you?
no subject
[He knows she'll only recognize the name if she's a Servant from Chaldea, and he really hopes she isn't. One of those here is bad enough . . . even if Gareth had called a truce with him before he could even think to propose it himself.]
I won't take a stab at which Caster you are. At least not out loud. You can tell me if you want, but you don't seem like the type.
[But he does know his Greek mythology. Circe, maybe . . . ]
no subject
[Evidently from that reaction, the name didn't seem familiar to her.]
i'd rather not
even if there are a few servants here more willing to disclose that sort of information
i don't understand it
no subject
(He does not discount the slight possibility that she actually does recognize the name and is making that "mistake" to convince him she doesn't, but that's because he's the kind of person to overthink that shit, and he knows that about himself. It's probably not true. But he doesn't discount it.)]
I don't either. Or maybe it's more accurate to say I can't relate to it. I can guess what they're thinking, but I don't necessarily agree.
I get that we're all supposed to be holding hands and getting along like buddies on the same side here, but I can't trust that so easily.
no subject
Or you never know, it could be the mun trying to write tags whilst half asleep, nothing malicious here Kadoc! It didn't help that Caster wasn't good at using the devices yet - she found typing a laborious process for one who wasn't used to it, and with her mind distinctly elsewhere thanks to Valentine's, she hadn't even noticed her mistake just yet.
And well, even when she did, she was half as likely to pretend nothing happened to save face.]
i'm glad someone agrees with me on that
from being pulled here in the middle of the grail war to suddenly acting as if it is already over and we don't have to fight any longer
it is disconcerting
[Hey, look, someone else having trouble trusting and making friends with old enemies!]
no subject
lmao I totally thought it was just her bad texting skills on purposeHuh, so she—and presumably the others—were pulled from the middle of their Grail War. Kadoc had known three of them were all part of the same one, but not how deep into it they'd been in their timeline. That's a precarious position for three Servants.]
I'm in the same position, so it's easy enough for me to sympathize with.
[He can't see any downside to sharing this information, after thinking it over, so why not?]
The situation I came from isn't exactly a Holy Grail War. But the Lancer here was an enemy Servant from my point of view.
It's not that I dislike her. We're not even in a situation here where we're enemies anymore. I'm not a Master anymore even if those could exist in this place.
But that doesn't mean I understand why she wants to be allies after everything that happened. I wouldn't put it aside that easily.
no subject
I mean her texting skills are pretty awful let's be honest. In truth, the other Servants had been pulled later than she was - simply because she had been drawn to Avalon from moments before her defeat, whilst time had continued on for them. Yet...she still couldn't accept that, and it still felt like she was right in the middle of that battle.]
you as well? i'm glad someone else can see how mindnumbingly frustrating it all is
i was
my master and i were in battle with other servants and their masters moments before i ended up in this world
some of them are here as welll
i dont object to a truce withthem but it iis too sudden
[Judging from how her typing seemed to somehow be getting worse, the shaky outcome of that battle was clearly still distressing to her.
She took a moment to settle herself, before sending another message: ]
i've spoken to lancer
you two were opponents, then?
i also find it strange they can let their guard down and attempt to form alliances with us like that
but perhaps it is better than them considering us enemies in a place like this
no subject
He's careful with his own emotions, so his responses are a little slower.]
Yeah. I'm not looking for any enemies here, especially not from that group.
I didn't fight her directly, but I did fight her Master. That wasn't a casual fight, either. It was a fight to the death. So why that Lancer wants anything to do with someone who tried to kill her Master, I'll never know.
Maybe she just doesn't want enemies either. But that doesn't have to mean being friends.
It's complicated.
no subject
i think we can agree on that
grudge or not making enemies needlessly is a fast way to get killed
of course it was a fight to the death
grail war or not that is normal for us isn't it?
it was the same for myself and the archer and saber here
[Okay so the situation was a little more complicated than that, but right now she didn't really want to go into all the details of their war, especially with a relative stranger.]
lancer seems a little naive to seek out friendships so easily but i suppose we will see what actions she takes from here
no subject
[But here he is. Not because Avalon has the power to bring people back from the dead, or from the moment before they died, or whatever happens here—but because he'd been spared against his own will or expectation, and commanded by his own Servant to accept it. He has to take a minute to just stare blankly down at his phone when the memory rises up. It comes and goes unwanted, still, as much as he's trying to just get on with his life here . . . because what else is there to do?
At any rate, he leaves it at that. There's no need to go into any of those details with anyone. All it is is a pause in his texting.]
Anyway. I guess we will. She seems like the type to take those so-called friendships seriously, so I doubt she's going to leave us alone if she's decided to make buddies.
[And yet he's a little quietly fond of that too. People like him need that type.]
no subject
[Not that Caster took any pleasure in the fighting, but she did what was needed.
...hm. She couldn't help but wonder what Kadoc's experiences in his own battles were- and what his feelings were about being brought to this world. She was grieving over being separated from her Master, did he feel the same about being separated from his Servant? But, she was sure he wouldn't tell her even if she asked.
A talk for another day, perhaps. Either way, Caster was happy to talk to someone who seemed on a similar wavelength to her about this mess.]
if she proves to be stubborn about it then so be it
but you can't be too careful
anyone can betray you after all
no subject
Maybe "trust me" is a funny thing to say about it, considering the topic.
[It's like, almost a joke. Not quite, because it's also true, but he does smile a little at it. Trust me, I don't trust anyone! Something like that.]
But in a situation like this, better safe than sorry. Everything about this place is ripe for abuse if someone got that into their head.
How long have you been here?
no subject
[That comment did make her chuckle to herself, though.]
yes, agreed.
since december
i assume you have only arrived here recently?
no subject
Does it feel like it's what they say it is? Or are they holding back something big?
no subject
after all i have no reason to assume they honestly intend to follow up on their side of the bargain once we have helped them save their world
i fully believe they will discard us when they are done but i think i am in the minority in that belief
[Too many people had used her to help them by calling on her magic, and then toss her aside after they had what they wanted, after all.]
no subject
[Is it what Kadoc thinks will happen? . . . He isn't sure yet. He is, by nature, a suspicious person, and the idea of being thrown out when he's of no more use isn't a new concept to him either. He idly stares at the back of his hand again as he thinks it over. For all he knows, that's going to be his ultimate fate back home too . . . if he ever gets back there, if it's ever restored. Maybe not.
So all of this is just six of one, a half dozen of the other, huh?]
I'm reserving judgement for now. But there's no reason I've been given yet to take any of this at face value. That's why I wanted to ask you. If they'd managed to convince you somehow, I'd wanna hear how.
But your answer's about what I expected. Thanks.
no subject
[That certainly wasn't what she had been expecting.]
or is it just that i seem the type who is hard to convince of these things?
but i don't intend to take them at their word either
all we can do is try to find more information
it has been good to speak with someone who understands that
thank you too
no subject
Or different timelines of the same place.
[It has to be the latter, if she was in the middle of a Holy Grail War when she and the others had been brought here. Only one of those had ever happened in the Earth Kadoc knows, and the Caster who won it was not a woman of Greek myth.]
no subject
do let me know if you find out anything interesting and i will do the same
i look forward to working with you
[Well, it was her own way of suggesting a tentative alliance. Not one of 'let's be friends' but 'let's share information'- much less risky that way. Besides, he seemed the sort to keep people at arm's length as she did, so it felt safer ground.
Timelines definitely made things complicated- as far as she was aware, the war she fought in was by no means the first that Fuyuki had seen.]
