First: Missing Dream | Video | un: Fashiondiva
[The video opens to 'Junko' lazing around on her bed, the smartphone held loosely in one hand - she spends a couple of moments frowning as she fiddled with the settings, giving herself a couple of overly obnoxious filters before deciding that's probably a little too much. Finally she settles to something a little more natural, and waves to the camera.]
Hey Avalon! I've been here a couple of weeks but figured I hadn't really introduced myself to most people here so, hi! I'm Junko Enoshima! Charmed, I'm sure.
[Just giving a bright grin and a peace sign to the camera, before her expression turns more serious.]
So, like, anyone else kinda feel like they don't really... know what they’re supposed to be doing here?
Yeah, yeah, I know we're supposed to be learning magic and saving the world and all that junk but I just feel totally lost, you know? And it's not just 'cause magic's seriously weird - anyone else never really have magic where they were from or is it just me? Like, people could get super talented, but not literal magic and spells and potions and junk.
Anyway, what I mean is... back home I had, like a dream I was chasing. I was a super popular model, and I was chasing after that the whole time. Now I'm away from all that, I dunno what I'm supposed do, and it’s seriously stressing me out.
[She grew quiet a moment, before shaking her head to snap herself out of it, plastering that fake grin back on her face.]
Sorry! Didn't mean to get all serious there! So, what's everyone been doing for fun since they got here? You think they've got somewhere to do some karaoke or something? It's been ages!

[After all, knowing how to disassemble and reassemble a firearm in a hurry was an important part of her training.
But first of all, that sword! Her eyes grew wide as she stares at it.]
...Okay that looks seriously badass!! What's that even made of?
no subject
[Darin holds the blade up so it reflects the light. It's got a mirror-like shine to it like polished obsidian.]
That's a damn good question. I thought I worked with every type of metal that was readily in circulation but I've never been able to figure out the kind of metal this is. If it's steel or even an alloy, I've never been able to recreate the process that created it. And I've never seen a material that's even a fraction as durable.
Unfortunately, I never got the chance to find out. My Old Man gave it to me before I had to skip town.

[That was...a really impressive sword. And even a blacksmith like him didn't have a clue what it was made of?]
Think...it's some sort of weird magic thing maybe? Mean if it can't be forged by normal means, anyway.

[He turns the blade to show the silver runes etched into the blade that span most of its length.]
I don't know what language it is but...hey, maybe I can figure it out here. There have been stories of smiths falling into a trance-like state when working on their greatest piece. I'm wondering if this is the result of that.
no subject
[She was Japanese, and had spent some time in the Middle East, but the runes didn't look like characters from either of those places.]
What, like a magnum opus or whatever? Maybe.
I mean, I don't mind having a look at it, but if you don't have any idea, I seriously doubt I'm gonna be able to figure it out.
no subject
And sure, I don't mind showing you. You clearly know your stuff, maybe you can spot something I haven't!
no subject
And sure! Happy to take a look. You free now?
no subject
Yeah! Sure I am! Where do you want to meet?
no subject
I mean, they probably won't mind us waving swords around at the training grounds, right? Wanna meet there?
no subject

[With that, she'll head on over to the training grounds to catch up with him.]
[ACTION?]
Action!
It didn't take her long to spot the flash of blue hair, thankfully, and she made her way over.]
Hey-!
[Oh, wait a second...]
...You know, I just realised I totally forgot to ask your name earlier.

[He laughs, hopping up to do a sweeping bow.]
Name's Darin. Darin Altway, Master Blacksmith, at your service.
[He reaches down and scoops up his dao, bringing it about in a trained flourish, the metal cutting through the air making a light ringing, like a chime. Finally, he lays it out flat across both hands.]
And this is my old man's greatest creation. Figured a weapon buff like yourself could appreciate it.
[The blade itself doesn't even show any signs of forging or welding. It's jet black and reflective, like obsidian, but the blackness seems...deeper. As if peering into it was like peering through a window into the inky blackness of space.]
no subject
[She's definitely impressed with that flourish- she could tell it was well maintained! Mukuro couldn't help but blush at the comment about being a weapon buff though.]
Oh come on, I'm not like that! Really!
But...you're totally right that I think that's cool.
[That darkness...it made her catch her breath. Not unlike the all-consuming comfort of her sister's Despair, in some ways.]
Woah...

[She looks very excited at the prospect!]

[He rolls the blade over in his hand and presents it to her hilt first.]
[Perfectly balanced, she might be amazed to see how light the blade itself is. It's got the weight of a saber despite technically being a broadsword. And it's clearly razor sharp.]
So, thoughts?
no subject
Woah- the balance is good, but the weight is totally out of wack. No way it should be this light!
[That didn't seem possible, at all! What was this thing even made of?]
no subject
You're right. Do you have any insight into why that might be?
[This girl knew her stuff. Not just from the way she was swinging his dao around either...]
no subject
Dunno, I don't work with swords much...I mean, a fuller would take some of the weight out, but not this much-
[Just checking for any grooves like that in the weapon.]
no subject
[Of course, Darin knew that. That's not why he was asking.]
You know you way around a weapon. Moreso than even a hobbyist would, I reckon. Especially with the way you've been carrying that.
Hell, even the reverence that you accepted the blade with shows you know more than you're letting on.
...I'm impressed, Junko. And that's not an easy thing to do.
no subject
I- I'm seriously just a Fashionista! Seriously! I just got lucky, that's all, and like, anyone would, like, be careful holding a sharp sword, you know?
[It was as if the amount of times she randomly peppered 'like' into her sentences was directly proportional to how suspicious people were of her not, in fact, being a perfectly normal fashion diva.]
...But, thanks...I was kinda worried about disappointing you, to be honest...
no subject
Why were you worried about disappointing me?
Junko...you can be more than one thing, you know. You can be anything. Just because you're a Fashionista doesn't mean you can't love weapons.
You don't have to hide it with me. I can tell you really see more than just metal and sharp edges. I think it's pretty cool.
no subject
That's all, really.
[It was more complicated than that, really, but what else could she say?]
...You really think that's cool, though?
[That made a little smile come into her face - one that was more awkward than her usual overly enthusiastic grins.]
I mean, I think knowing how to make swords and stuff like you do is much cooler than just knowing how to swing one around, you know?
