( Sometimes, getting up early is a blessing because you get to see a wonderful dawn and enjoy the peace and quiet before everyone else starts to rise.
Sometimes, getting up early is a blessing because you run into Elphame's newest statue of the tournament victors. And, as it seems a terrible shame to not drag her friends (and the other three), Kate whips out her phone and does what any good person would do:
Start a slow, circling walk of the statue. Please enjoy the close ups of the loving detail in which every victor is rendered.
And please also enjoy the huff of laughter Kate lets out before she adds a; )
Congratulations.

...She'd experienced it too, now. The pain of having one's beloved brother ripped away from them so brutally. No wonder- no wonder she'd unleashed such a rage.
And right now, she had no idea what to say.]
So that's why-... by the Gods...
[In contrast to Kate's calm tone, Medea's own wavered with horror- with the weight of it all. With how much Kate must be hurting and how powerless she was to do anything about it.]

Which ruined everything but the pockets of those who profit from war. )
He did summat stupid.
( She could scream, and rage, and break things even now, but what would be the point? That doesn't bring him back. That wouldn't allow her to shake his dumb ass until he understood that he wasn't supposed to do that.
It's the same story it always was: you can't cheat death. And fuck knows she tried. A pointless feather languishes somewhere at the bottom of one of her drawers as evidence of that very fact.
He was supposed to survive. She was supposed to take care of him. What good is she otherwise? )
He paid for it.

The how and the why didn't matter right now. And if that was all Kate wanted to say on the matter, so be it.

...If it was in your world, I can't even burn whoever did this-

( Ah. There's that anger she's been trying to keep back. How fucking dare he? Doing something so stupid.
Leaving her. )
He... He took summat he knew he shouldn't have.
( There's so much to explain. Too much. Yet more frustration which builds in her throat. How can she explain this to Caster when there's a scream threatening to tear out of her throat, when the only thing she wants to do is find Marc and hit him for what he's done.
And she can't even do that. )
