video: un: didnot / dated to whenever the statue goes up
( Sometimes, getting up early is a blessing because you get to see a wonderful dawn and enjoy the peace and quiet before everyone else starts to rise.
Sometimes, getting up early is a blessing because you run into Elphame's newest statue of the tournament victors. And, as it seems a terrible shame to not drag her friends (and the other three), Kate whips out her phone and does what any good person would do:
Start a slow, circling walk of the statue. Please enjoy the close ups of the loving detail in which every victor is rendered.
And please also enjoy the huff of laughter Kate lets out before she adds a; )
Congratulations.

Unfortunately, she nods at her question. ]
I got here right when the tournaments started. [ She then tilts her head. ] I was told that time's frozen, and the multiverse is in danger, but that's all I really know.
[ and if the plan's already been explained at this point then uhhhh we'll say it went straight over her head. it's fine. she's 11. ]

Inhale. Exhale. Try not to pinch the bridge of her nose in exasperation at that confirmation. )
This is supposed t' slow down that thing in the sky. ( That's the easiest way to explain it. No one, let alone an eleven year old kid, needs to spend half of the day listening to the whole backstory of how they got here. Or why it's taken so long to get here, either. )

This... is really complicated, isn't it? From her singular experience, things this big don't just happen overnight. She may not know the history, but she has a sense of the importance.
Which is why she really wants Kate to know ] Then- I'll do my best! You can count on me, I promise!
[ She speaks so big for a child. ]

Cynicism would be easy, were she not looking at the face of a small child who seems unerringly determined to do the right thing.
Ugh. What do you say in the face of a kid like this? )
... I'm sure you will.
( Whether this can actually fix anything, who the hell knows any more. )
