I'd like to take a moment to remind everyone of Murphy's Law.

You may not call it that. You may not know it exists. But I promise you, it holds true for every culture, in every time period, in every universe:

Anything that can go wrong, will.

Does it seem like a bad idea? It is. Is there a chance it'll blow up in your face? It will, and probably everyone else's face too. Is it going to make strangers mad at you? Don't do it.

Also, this may be an unpopular opinion, but I'm sharing it anyway:

Not that I'm disagreeing with you but also not sure how that law would hold to up to subjective scrutiny.

What I'd really like to know is what you propose as an alternative for those of us that have been cursed with such dark gifts.

Not difficult but it could prove quite a disadvantage. Ghosts don't really have the same corporeal effectiveness in a fight.

bearing in mind that this is just my opinion on magic and not a commentary on you as a person that I don't particularly know, but

that's not a really strong argument.

hard to have sympathy for people losing superpowers when you've been fighting for 15+ years with none.

Certainly that makes sense.

Did you come from a world where such powers are still normal?

Maybe not 'normal', but probably in the mid hundreds?

I also come from a city where something gets blown up or somebody gets murdered practically once a week. And Gotham's superheroes don't have powers, generally.

Sounds a bit more like what we're used to dealing with in my Japan in that case. Just a handful of people with big egos and way too much power making others miserable

At least you could still try to keep your head down do your best live a normal life if you wanted.

You can do that in Gotham! You've got about a 50:50 chance depending on income bracket and luck.

Good point. Didn't much care to rely on luck so I made sure the income covered for it. Not that it counts for anything here. Seems like you're the one that can advise on the real transferable skills.
