[Jane appears to be sitting in the middle of the woods. It's raining, though not terribly hard, and she doesn't appear too bothered by it as she shelters under a tree with an irritated-looking bird fluffed up on her shoulder.]

I've been thinking about something... and indulge me, because sitting out here waiting for the rain to stop is terribly dull.

[She doesn't use the network too often and rarely for a casual query, but she is bored.]

There are a good many people here from other worlds, yet I often notice that most seem to be... hmm, heroes of some kind, I suppose? Or people who were already powerful in magical ways, or people of high political influence. Some are gods, even. [A little shrug follows this, and she hums thoughtfully.]

So I wondered, then, just how many are not. How many were pulled into this from perfectly ordinary lives where nothing magical or horribly dangerous really happened to them, and they were certainly never anticipating having to halt some multiverse-ending calamity.

[A fat raindrop hits the top of her head and she flinches, looking up and then shuffling further back against the tree.] I'm sure I'm not the only one who often wonders which capricious higher power thought they had the skill set for this.

[So he's well-off. Jane can relate to that, at least. Her own family is not without its resources and affluence even with her father's eccentricities.]

My father and I are fairly... comfortable as well. I think I can understand how you feel.

[irritated]

Coming here with nothing is awful, huh?

[Hikaru still misses his luxuries and not having to worry about if he has the money to do the things he wants. Money has never felt like a limited resource and he's not a fan.]

Oh, I don't know if it's all been awful. It's certainly been different.

[Jane is a woman of eternal optimism, so once she gets beyond the awkwardness of settling into a new lifestyle... things become rather simple for her in terms of getting by.]

I like to think of it as a challenge!

[irritated]

Coming here from another world that wasn't my own kind of got me tired of it, I guess. But at least in that other world, money was way easier.

[He misses just making money by touching.]

[She nods in agreement at that, at least.]

It can be tricky here, that's true... Are you managing to get by, though?

[irritated]

I work for King Arthur so not too bad, I guess. [He works for royalty. 'Not too bad'.]

How about you?

Oh, for the king! He seems terribly nice. I sent him some tea once and got a lovely letter back.

[How Arthur is as a king aside, she definitely likes him as a person.]

I get by quite well doing research and selling my paintings occasionally.

[irritated]

King Arthur definitely appreciated it! He's told me himself how much he enjoyed that tea. [He did not exactly say that but Hikaru's his PR manager. This little lie doesn't hurt anybody and it's good for the people to think King Arthur will talk about every gift he's gotten.]

Oh, an artist too? You only do paintings?

[He may not be being entirely truthful but Jane still glows in any case. It's a nice thought, even if it's an exaggeration of what had actually happened.]

Oh, not at all. I can work in several different mediums. [Pencil, chalk, paint, pastels, you name it and Jane can probably produce something using it.]

Sometimes I like to sit somewhere in Camelot and just doodle the people passing by. It's good practice.
