I beg your pardon, there is something I would like to ask: how does one go about asking for a job?

It is quite difficult to look for a job when you still have to go to school all day.

But I do think I should be able to help the florist once I manage to get a chance to speak with her. [Alice takes a deep breath.] But I've never done such a thing.

Do I just... ask the florist? How does one go about doing this? I certainly am well-spoken enough, and I know my flowers. I've never worked with money, though, will that be a problem?

Asking the network is certainly a good place to start.

Was thinking about doing the same myself, actually... the QuestBoard app doesn't really seem like a very stable source of income.

Anyways, as long as you can count and take your time, working with money shouldn't be too difficult. Lots of students in my world did it.

Oh, these weren't my students! I'm not a teacher. Still, in my country, in my world, people can start working as young as 16. At that age, they're usually students like yourself.

Oh ah... well, I'm not sure what level I am here according to their schools. But I'm seven and in my second year of primary back home.

Yes, that's the first step. The florist might ask you to arrange some bouquets or something like that to see if you're good at it, too. And probably ask about your availability.

It's always worth asking even if they're not looking, that's for sure. If this doesn't work out, you can always look for a different florist. Or a different job, really. Asking on the network sounds like the best idea, but you can keep your eyes open for the job offerings while walking around.

Well, that is quite alright. Though I do wonder what she'll want the bouquets to say. After all, every single flower has a meaning and then there are the colors and whether the flower is open or closed or opening!

My availability? Everything would have to be after school and lessons. Do you think that shall be a problem?

You could practice a little before talking to the florist, too. Something like...what kind of a bouquet would be good for a friend, that kind of exercise.

Just make sure to mention that, if they're looking for someone to help part-time, this shouldn't a problem, I think. And trying new things might help with finding what you really enjoy doing.

Oh, that is quite easy, there are sunflowers that mean a cheery demeanor, yellow roses, yellow chrysanthemums, and then if it's a new friendship, you can add daisies and daffodils, if it's a friend you admire, it can be a dahlia, and whatever you might wish to say about your friend or friendship.

I imagine asking will be enough. It worked for me in the last world I was in. As for money, as long as you know your math, you should be fine. If you're still feeling unsure, you could ask the florist to show you how to handle the banking app when working with customers, since hardly anyone here seems to carry physical money.

Retail work may not be glamorous, but it pays, and these are exactly the sort of stores she needs to be at to now prioritize building Alice's wardrobe as she builds her own.
