I beg your pardon, there is something I would like to ask: how does one go about asking for a job?

It is quite difficult to look for a job when you still have to go to school all day.

But I do think I should be able to help the florist once I manage to get a chance to speak with her. [Alice takes a deep breath.] But I've never done such a thing.

Do I just... ask the florist? How does one go about doing this? I certainly am well-spoken enough, and I know my flowers. I've never worked with money, though, will that be a problem?

Asking the network is certainly a good place to start.

Was thinking about doing the same myself, actually... the QuestBoard app doesn't really seem like a very stable source of income.

Anyways, as long as you can count and take your time, working with money shouldn't be too difficult. Lots of students in my world did it.

Yes, that's the first step. The florist might ask you to arrange some bouquets or something like that to see if you're good at it, too. And probably ask about your availability.

It's always worth asking even if they're not looking, that's for sure. If this doesn't work out, you can always look for a different florist. Or a different job, really. Asking on the network sounds like the best idea, but you can keep your eyes open for the job offerings while walking around.

Oh, these weren't my students! I'm not a teacher. Still, in my country, in my world, people can start working as young as 16. At that age, they're usually students like yourself.

I imagine asking will be enough. It worked for me in the last world I was in. As for money, as long as you know your math, you should be fine. If you're still feeling unsure, you could ask the florist to show you how to handle the banking app when working with customers, since hardly anyone here seems to carry physical money.

Has it? Workhouses are very common in London. When did they become illegal? Did Queen Victoria declare it? [Victorian workhouses existed well into the 1900s, not that she knew that.]

Oh ah... no, sir. I know English, I'm becoming quite skilled at French, and am only just starting Latin. I know the latter is the language that French and Portuguese come from, though.

I believe so, yes. I've never been to a workhouse, but you hear about how awful they are... whole families are torn apart in them.

Apparently, app is short for application, a technological application. So the banking app is used every time someone makes a purchase, instead of everyone having to carry money on their person.

I'll tell you the same thing I told Ken: the biggest thing you can do to help is focus on studying your magic. If we all keep improving, we'll be able to help each other more, and you can't do that if you're tired out from working.
