I am assuming the dragon is a sentient being with intelligence equal or superior to that of humans. Killing is a crime, laws or not. Any being gifted with intelligence should be able to recognize so.

The countless people who resided in Celliwig had nothing to do with the dragons. There were children, you know. Innocents whose lives were lost. Even if their elders had angered the dragon, their deaths cannot be condoned.

Why are you so eager to forgive the dragon and condemn those who lost their lives?

If the dragon doesn't think killing people is a crime and has no qualm doing just that, then what exactly are you proposing? Discuss with him and hope he'll agree to try and not kill us?

What would you rather have happened, and how can you be sure it would have been a better option?

I didn't attack the dragon, fyi. I just do not believe it was unjustified.

Now, let me say this. Yes, it is smart and can understand. No, that doesn't mean it shouldn't be held responsible for its actions. The people weren't killed by an earthquake, for god's sake! They were killed by the dragon. It does make a major difference, contrary to what you're saying. One is an act of nature that nobody can do anything about, the other is a voluntary act by a sentient creature.

If a second earthquake happens, you can't help it. If the dragon attack again, it's our fault for not having done anything about it. Seriously, what the heck?! What's with trying to absolve the dragon from his actions? You didn't even have an alternative plan! You were just going to go see the dragon and hope he'd be in a chatty mood. Jesus Christ.

It's not a video game. You can't just try the negotiation option when there is nothing indicating it to be an actually viable option. You can't just wait to see how things will evolve and then reset the game when you realize you screwed. People's lives are on the line here! There's no second chance if we screw this up!

Was it a mistake? Maybe, maybe not. But you have absolutely no right to stand on some sort of moral high ground.

And you keep acting as if Celliwig was a single entity. It was a city! Even if those who provoked the dragon came from it and were in positions of power, this does not justify razing the entire city to the ground!

How can you talk about people with power making decisions that end up hurting those who got no choices, and not realize this is exactly what the dragon did? Those who provoked the beast should have been stopped and tried, to be sure. But handwaving the dragon's disproportionate answer?

Heck, if it was a human I bet you wouldn't show that sort of compassion. Say someone in Camelot killed my entire family, and in return I burn Camelot to the ground without caring to find the exact culprit. Would you give it a second thought before killing me?

So what if it's a dragon? Does that mean just because it's bigger whatever it does is okay? Maybe tomorrow that dragon's wife comes for us. Maybe tomorrow that dragon would have attacked us. Maybe trying talking to it would have succeeded. Maybe trying talking to it would have gotten the people trying burnt down. You're not clairvoyant, none of us are. Even if it happened, that doesn't mean you knew better.

You're such a hypocrite omg. You're literally in no position to berate anyone for anything and yet here you are, trying to make those people feel bad and pretend having it your way would have been better. In spite of your claims, you're definitely parading on that moral high ground of "but you didn't even try negotiating with the mass killer first!"
