So the snow came early this year, it looks like.

First time seeing this white thing we call snow? Don't panic. It's cold, but it's not dangerous.

If you're inside, just dress up warmly and make sure all your windows and doors are closed.

If you're outside, let people know so we can come help you back inside and into warmth. Well, those who aren't stuck inside that is as... I imagine a lot of us are.

Winter is nothing to be afraid of. You just need to adjust. Right clothes will make everything better. Trust me, I was raised in the middle of snow.

Thanks for the reminder, Sokka. Having come from a country where it snows a lot in the north (especially in Scotland), I know that there is nothing wrong about the snow. I actually enjoy seeing snow back in my world.

Weirdly enough, I was actually stuck inside the cafe I work at for one night when the snowstorm came in. And to be honest, I was more surprised by the power outage than the weather.

I'm comfortable with snow more than I am with heat or say, desert. But I can completely understand why some people wouldn't be.

Given how strong the snowstorm was, I'm not surprised at all there were power outages.

Yeah, the winds from the day were really that strong, I will admit. But at least me, my co-workers, and the cafe patrons were safe inside the cafe that night.

Rose was a little scared of the winds though since she never encountered a snowstorm and heavy winds before and she was with me when the power outage happened.

Did you get the Candlebloom spell working?

Huh. I guess familiars can get scared, too.

Yeah, I actually did. I think that me and my co-workers used every spare plate, bowl, and glass that we can find in the cafe to use the spell, then I used fire magic to light up the candles since they don’t light up on their own.

She certainly had a hard time trying to stay calm for a few minutes before I had to comfort after doing the Candlebloom spell and lighting every candle.

It's a handy spell for later, too, definitely. Who knows when you might need a spare candle.

At least she has you to comfort her when she needs it.

That’s really good to hear. I was able to type down the spell onto my smartphone and wrote it down on paper so I can remember it the next time we have another power outage again.

Glad to hear it, Sokka. Rose is happy that I’m always there to help her whenever she is in distress.

Yep, I’m pretty certain that they already do. Everyone were able to work together to get the candles to grow and light them up on that night, along with keeping back up copies of the Candlebloom spell on hand too.

Hmm... I wouldn't make a fireplace without a permission. You could get kicked out of the inn if you did that. Though you could probably warm yourself with elemental magic... if you're careful enough.

While you're certainly correct in saying that winter preparedness and remaining calm is the best approach, I'd be careful saying it's not entirely dangerous.

Hypothermia and getting lost in blizzards are common enough occurrences to those unused to such weather. Although, in this case, I imagine it's likely more people are getting lost in snow tunnels.

Both are definitely dangers to look out for, but I mostly said that to reassure anyone who's never seen snow before as I know there are people who haven't.

Of course warning anyone about the dangers is also important, but getting everyone on the same page that winter usually isn't dangerous if you prepare is essential.

You're not incorrect. Preparation and understanding of any inclement weather will save lives.

I suppose I'm mostly worried about how some individuals will take it.

I can understand why you worry. Especially since I know one person who is from a desert and walks outside without a shirt on... I hope he will listen to advice and actually use a shirt now.

Or that he's prepared for frostbites.

Something's telling me likely not if that's the case. You should wear lightweight, long clothing in the desert to limit sun exposure.

Heat and cold are as bad as the other.

It's part of our military training. I was stationed in the frontlines of a desert for a year and anticipated returning there soon. I'm not as familiar with snow as you are.
