[ Video + potential action]
For those of you that are digging for the dragon's horde and wish to keep some for yourself. That's cool and all, but remember to at least give away most of what you're able to. Things kept and horded by greed, and guarded by malice, often hold a certain weight to them. That said... I'm still not fully put together, need a bit of helping digging through the rubble. For those able and willing to, the help will be appreciated.
[And true to his word, anyone taking a trip to the ruins of what was once the dragon's lair will find a worn Beowulf, attempting to move rubble and collect what he could from what was left from the horde. Whether the treasure was damaged or not. It could all help in some way, he figured.]
[Video sometime later // Locked to
fujimaru]
[He adjusts the large back on his shoulders, the sound of jingling resonated from it. A chosen assortment of goods he had picked out of the rubble. Not quite as valuable as the ones he'd been planning on giving away, but still quite precious. He didn't think it would be much, but with any luck it'd make her life a bit easier. Not like he was going to keep any of it, it was better to see that his master was better propped up in any case.]
Oi, master. Where can I meet you?
[He tried making it sound less like a demand as much as he could. Though the gruff and to the point tone in his voice most likely made it difficult to distinguish.]
[Video sometime later // Locked to
peninhand]
[Right, one last gift. It might be a bit late, he realized. And perhaps not the best time. But he figured she might still enjoy the bit of attention or acknowledgement for her day of birth. Besides, he felt bad for having taken off and not shown as he had.]
Monika, you able to meet up?
[Probably a sudden call, but he was never one to beat around the bush.]
[ooc: just a real quick log post to try and help wrap things up with him event-wise.]

Still, seeing what had happened to Celliwig... She couldn't help but wonder if maybe her presence would have made a difference. She'd been in her room pondering on this when she received Beowulf's call. ]
Oh, um. Yes, where do you want to meet?
[ A legendary hero who had slain dragons... He'd probably been there. And if they'd failed even with his assistance... Safe to say nothing she could have done would have changed a thing. So she wanted to think, at any rate. ]

[Wherever she was feeling most comfortable. She still seemed out of sorts, even now. Out of all the times for things to happen, this was perhaps one of the worst for her. He gives her a grin, voice having its usual, gruff edge to it.
First things first, keep up the sight of the strong hero she seems to see him as. But not necessarily overbearing.]
Got something for your birthday.

[ Considering she lives there, she's there pretty quickly. The place is a lot busier than usual, too. Discussions and such to give the vacant rooms to refugees. That shouldn't even be a question in her mind, there are vacant rooms, better put them to good use.
Regardless, she waited till she would spot him. ]
Hi there!
no subject
Things were certainly more crowded around here though, weren't they? And they were just going to keep getting more and more crowded as the weeks rolled on, and more people poured in. He still pushed and pressed through the streets though and would arrive in no time.]
Afternoon little miss.
[He gives her his trademark grin. There was a small box, lightly wrapped clutched in one large hand.]
So you're nineteen now, huh?
no subject
[ Magic, dragons, multiverse? Sure, she could get used to all of those things. The hero of the very first English poem talking to her? That was never going to stop being fantastical. She spotted the wrapped box, but first— ]
I'm glad you're alright. I heard of what happened...
[ Obviously. She looked away sheepishly. She still felt guilty, even though for all intent and purpose her presence wouldn't have changed a thing. Regardless of heartaches or trauma, next time she'd have to be there. ]

Some days are too important to forget. Hey, you should remember to look up in the sky and say thanks.
[All the excitement from earlier certainly didn't seem to bug him. Even the dragon escaping, or stone giant doing what it wanted to, fazed him all that much. Or neither of them seemed to.]
What happened happened. Best to look to the future and the now. Rather than dwelling on it.
[He didn't her to worry or feel guilt over something that most likely would have happened sooner or later.]
no subject
But the mere thought of giving up on love was too painful. ]
You're right. Learn from our mistakes and do better next time!
[ She really ought to apply that philosophy to herself more often. Still, she beams at him. ]
Thanks, Beowulf.

When the video blips on, she's clearly in the middle of having a snack--something that's shedding crumbs all over the place. It's also pretty obvious, at a glance, that she's been doing some other shopping; she's got a backpack of her own at the moment. ]
I'm just getting a few supplies, so I can meet you wherever. What's up? Do you need me to check your bandages again?
no subject
It certainly helped that she seemed to be fine and dandy still.]
No, nothing like that. I got something for you. [He tilts his head, he did hate to interrupt her in the middle of something. His bandages probably also needed to be changed, but he could do that later.]
Be better to meet in private. Probably where you're staying.
no subject
[ She fishes something out of her pocket: an actual crumpled paper list. If he squints when she holds it up, he might be able to tell that it looks like a supply list for camping. ]
I'm really glad I did all that sheep stuff earlier this month. This would've been a lot harder otherwise.
no subject
Mm, I'll meet you there.
[He was already on the move.]
Oh, the fire sheep thing? How was it?
no subject
[ She says it almost completely deadpan, then wrinkles her nose at her own joke. ]
I came out of it with no burns on me, though I'm probably gonna need a new bag sooner than later... turns out, fabric doesn't make a good shield against fire.
[ Learn something new every day. But when he arrives at her room at the inn, she is waiting for him as promised. ]
no subject
[Probably have the opposite of the ingredients effect.
Ah, but she was real quick! Maybe she's got some sort of ultra secret teleportation magic??? But hey, speaking of bags, he goes ahead and hoists the one he was carrying off his shoulder. It looked small when on him.
But... well, it sure didn't look it when he slung it off. It also didn't sound light when it the ground with a clamor.]
Ain't much, and not some of the more valuable items I managed to scrounge up. Just try not to fall over when you look inside.
[Because when she does Ritsuka will see all sorts of wonderful, half-crushed and partially destroyed, things.]
no subject
But anything she means to say immediately in response is cut off when he drops the bag--that sounds heavy? That sounds suspiciously like the way money bags jingle in cartoons??
After a moment of looking at him sidelong, she does finally open the bag to peer inside. ]
...
What the actual heckie.

[Have a judgmental stare from a smoking teenager, Beowolf.]

[He's to tired to insult the kid for not listening though. And didn't really have time to deal with an edgy teen. And so he clicked out of the video, and went back to work.]
no subject
Hey-!
Give it away to who?!
[What the actual fuck?! What a RUDE old man.]
no subject
[action]
Sighing, she approaches Beowulf.]
Hello there. I'm here to help, if it matters any.
no subject
[The mountain of muscle (and bandages) turns to face her as she approached. Another interesting person showed up. For the moment he stops his digging, leaning on the shovel.
An easy smile pressed itself on his lips. Easy for him anyway, to others he looked downright thuggish.]
Any help rendered will always matter.
[The smile grows, taking on more of an unintentionally feral vibe.]
Especially when it's treasure buried under a mountain.
video; un: ems
[ Emerald's concerned about the food rations from taking in this many refugees. The idea that people aren't focusing on that and are instead honing in on treasure are just... Ugh. She'll really never feel bad about stealing from people who have fancy jewelry and treasures lying around. They're the ones who actually deserve to be stolen from. ]
no subject
[He leans heavily on his pickaxe, large chest rising and falling with labored, painful breathing. It was a horde of untold riches now left unguarded... just kind of... buried under a mountain. So not exactly easy to get to, but yeah.]
New homes... are not free... stomachs cannot be filled when food and funds are limited... [Another ragged breath before he sits down.] ...and there are a lot of stomachs to feed now. Backs to cloth... wounded and sick.
[Nothing is free.]
no subject
[ She was homeless for a good chunk of her life. She knows what her priorities are. She only ever stole jewelry to fence to pay for food. It also explains why the city's behind her in her video feed right now, with her next statement. ]
Gold and jewels are easy to sell if you're in a place that's got a surplus, sure, but it's not going to stop a supply shortage if your closest trading partners are complete rubble. Celliwig's people said there are a bunch of mushrooms in the caves near the Dusklight Woods. I'm filling my freezer even if I have to eat mushroom soup for the next year. That sounds way better than treasure to me.
no subject
[After a few more moments he sighs and gets back to his feet. Having caught his breath.]
I'm not going to argue, I've no time or patience for it. If you wish to do something else, beyond rendering help when it's asked, then that's up to you. I will, however, ask you to at least not keep all your mushrooms to yourself. Or be surprised if there are any left that you can eat.
[With that he goes ahead and starts to close out of the video. He really doesn't have the time or energy for much beyond his current task.]
no subject
[ Uhg, he hung up. She was actually trying to help, despite her tone and general crankiness. It's not something she's used to-- the only way she knows how to operate is to either follow orders or bicker or insult people before actually going along with things, so this was a fail on her part. She sighs and puts away her phone. ]
