[A typical inn scene with a typical plainly dressed woman sitting in view, clearly nervous about making a video, is the first thing anyone would see. Once she was sure it was recording though, she'd give her best, though shaky, smile]
Hey! Um, I mean, Hi there everyone..! [Something nudges her arm from just out of frame, and Althea sighs and slumps her shoulders slightly, trying to relax]
Ok, ok. My name is Althea, I'm.. new, which I'm told is a common enough occurrence that you all probably already know that.
I guess I'm trying to find out ways I can help..? I come from somewhere with a lot of technology, I lived in a school for a while so I'm good with learning and teaching others, and I want to make sure I learn how to use this magic stuff as quick as possible. [She looked rather serious on this last point, as ability mishaps were somewhat common, often with disasterous results, where she came from.]
So... um, let me know if anyone needs anything or can point me in a direction for any of that? Thank you all in advance..!

Hello! Good for you - help is always for the best. And what sort of magic? I'll try to help, in turn, if I can.
no subject
Um, thank you! I... can't really imagine being anywhere and not at least trying to do what I can to help others, especially when we seem to have been brought here to help... sort of? I'm still figuring things out.
It seems I have elemental magic, which matches... some of what I could do back home, but there's a lot more here than I'm used to. What about you?
no subject
Elemental magic, too. Something with plants on the side, but I look forward to figuring that out more.

Oh! That's a relief. That you have the same first type, I mean. I... think I have something with technology on the side, but I'm trying not to think about that until I know I'm not going to mess anything up with the first part.
Could you do elemental... magic, I guess, where you're from? If that's not rude to ask, I mean. I'm not sure what the protocol is for this, sorry.

Elements? Like more than one? That's... wow, so you probably have a big head start on this already.
Oh! Well, if you're okay with it, or want the help, maybe I can show you stuff about technology in return for help with elemental magic? I'm... I don't want to end up not being able to control it and have something bad happen.

I was raised to bend the air element, so it has come to me a bit naturally here, yes. The others are taking longer.
And that sounds like a fair trade to me!

[His agreeing has her beaming however, and the earlier thought is dismissed.] Really? Great! I know there are a lot of preparations going on around the city, so I don't want to get in the way of anything if you already have stuff you need to do, but I really appreciate this.

I'm pretty much free. I've stayed away from the organizational stuff around here.

You've heard about the quests already, I presume? Those are usually the best place to start for helping the greater cause — not merely to assist someone in need, but also because it will provide opportunities to put your magic to use.
no subject
I did hear about the quests, but only vaguely. Some of them seem... more than I think I could handle, especially alone, but I guess I'll have to start somewhere if I want to actually be of help.
Can... I ask what your first missions were like?

[Not a name you expect to hear when there's no other evident connection. Imagine running into someone named "Earth" on the street, right?]
Let me think, though... not long after I arrived, there was one mission to save some creature called a Selkie from her husband. And also, one for exploring strange markings in a library. So, you know, a mixture of combat missions and others.

Well, they might have a friend who is trying to show them the ropes! Or... they might have accidentally found their way here. You'd be surprised what people who don't know what they're doing can manage... or maybe you wouldn't.
You do have a point though. Are there courses on this stuff? Maybe I could volunteer there...

Anyway, apparently they pay people to go to school, so that's an option. I'm toying with getting my computer-repair-fu on as a business, since I can't exactly do my day job here.

Oh, um... it's more of an adopted name thing. I mean, being... adopted. Sort of? It's a long story, and the he sort of surprised me with it so I'm still getting used to it myself, but I thought I could test it here! See if... well, if I'm up to the name, I guess.
Wait, pay to go to school? That's amazing?? I... feel you on not being able to do the day job, but I could definitely try to get into repairing or building, especially with schooling as an option! [Clearly she was getting excited at this new option, and it was showing.]

Well, there's enough actual kids around that they probably figured there's no point in expecting the unaccompanied minors to just be okay with not getting any money. But yeah, they'll give you money for your trouble.
no subject
Thanks, haha. That still sounds almost... too good to be true, I guess? Or maybe that's just a product of the system I'm used to. Are you going to take classes or are you hoping to go straight into starting a 'computer-repair-fu' business? I don't know if you'd even want or need help, but I'm more than happy to at least spread the word if you do..!
