Ninth: A Tactical Decision (Text; anon)

(TW: Murder/Sororicide, Betrayal, DR Spoilers)

[The last few months had given Mukuro a lot to think about- especially with regard to her own death back home. One part still didn't make any sense to her:

What had she done wrong? Why had Junko killed her?

...It was with those thoughts swimming around in her head that she sent another late night message to the network.]

27 AUG XX, 0324

Reviewing the strategy from a recent battle at home. I want to understand the rational for the decisions taken.

A soldier is engaged in a stealth/undercover mission. However, they have made a mistake that risks the operation's success, and have not realised their error.

The mission commander is in a position to eliminate the operative to preserve their mission, without exposing themselves in the process.

Is that course of action reasonable? To put it another way- under what circumstances would you consider sacrificing one of your own men to ensure a mission's success or to prevent it's failure?

Don't feel you have to answer.

Could be a few reasons.
Your failure was unacceptable, they wanted to tie up loose ends and erase the evidence of their involvement in your mission, your commander intended to kill you from the start and this betrayal was inevitable...
Or your commander is just a monster!!
It's hard to say and I don't think you'll get the answer you want from anyone here.
Because you want a reason that makes sense, don't you
And nobody here can offer that insight.
Nobody here knows your commander the way you do and it seems like you're afraid of what the truth might be.
Or I could be wildly off base!!

[This is so much more convoluted then any of his missions the Fatui sent him on, but maybe that's because they all know he'd never be able to be anyone but himself.]

Do you think she's not a monster because you care about her or is there proof that she was anything but controlling and cruel and thought you were expendable

[Something about the way this person speaks seems... Young, uncertain, and maybe he's just projecting, but...

It's concerning.]
