I'm looking for a recommendation. [No preamble. The young man on the video is handsome and pale with wine-red eyes, sharp canine teeth and pointed ears, several gold piercings glinting along the edge of one. His dark hair shines strangely purple each time he passes under the sunlight outside.]
Somewhere I might buy a fine quality violin.
[The thought had occurred to him while he was already out, and he finds a shady spot to stop and make the address properly.]
While I could very well scour Camelot's streets all afternoon for a good music shop, but I'm sure some obliging person might point me in the right direction. My thanks in advance.

[He texts over the address.]
It's located downtown, near a candle shop and an antiques store. The store is called House of Music.

[He's not just looking for any old recommendation here - informed ones would be ideal if he's going to spend this amount of money on an instrument.]

[Not a difficult name to remember, at least.]
I'll be sure to let her know she came recommended.

You could trade for one you may have had from home. I've a friend who acquired a horn from his world that way.
While this world may have violins, they may not be the same type from your home world, is what I mean. So... may not be exactly a violin.
[His piano is a piano but who ever tuned it did not do a good job, and he's sure the number of keys is not right. There are some adjustments he must make.]
no subject
[Though he could trade for the one he had in Aefenglom, perhaps, if it came down to that.]
I'm willing to pay to commission one from scratch if need be.
[It takes a few weeks to make a quality violin, this he knows, and he isn't short on money at the moment. There's always someone around here that wants a job doing, and they're usually more than willing to pay for someone to do it.]
I may need a luthier in that case, but I'm going to call that 'plan B'.

[It doesn't seem like this guy is having a lot of conversations on the network, but maybe that's an incorrect assumption.]
How long have you played the violin?
no subject
There aren't a lot of conversations going on, but he does think he prefers it that way...]
Around two hundred years. My first Master Attendant enjoyed the violin and piano, so I learned to play for her. [There's an undeniable fondness in his tone as he speaks of her.]
And now I see no need to give it up. I enjoy it.

Plus this guy is kind of attractive, and Gokudera feels he'd maybe act differently. So, this is much much easier to handle.]
You don't look that old. I take it you're not just some regular human?
[Is that rude to ask? Oh well.]
Mn, I'm trained on the piano, but the only one I've got is so horribly neglected it's not going to be easy to tune the damned thing...
[But that's his problem. Gokudera waves a hand dismissively. Moving on!]
Even if you were to be starting out and awful at it, there aren't many people in this world that would discourage learning that. Or new instruments in general.
[Gokudera would be the dick that would be like 'hey you're garbage and should stop' because he's a hypocrite, but he's not going to give that impression first.]
no subject
No, I'm not human at all.
[At least, not when he's not here, but there's still a good part of him that being forceably made mortal can't take away. A sense of identity that can't be removed. He doesn't seem to think it's a rude question to ask, in any case.
It's better than 'are you some kind of vampire', which is one he gets all too often.]
I'm not one to discourage the developments of new skills, provided you're not creating problems for others. As for your piano... I expect you might be able to find a professional to tune it. The local population must use pianos too.

[Gokudera likes that in going to so many worlds, he's met so many beings that are not human, some even are entirely inorganic. He's a mystery-hunter, a fan of cryptozoology, so learning about anyone who is not or who has not been human is endlessly fascinating. When he's regularly interacting with people who are not human, he comes across as much more friendly. Thank goodness.
It does tend to make him less intimidating in general, but oh well.]
They must, since it was here long before me! I have some sheet music that's enchanted to glow
and cursed to read differently so it is always going to come across as avant garde while feeling appropriate, so that it can be read in darker spaces. I've been applying light magic to many books of music I've been able to get my hands on.no subject
[Not that Red Wine often plays piano or violin in the dark, but there have been many an instance of poor lighting when he might liked to have sheet music that was easier to read.]
I don't have magic here quite so handy as that.
[Elemental magic? Great, though he hasn't used it often. He prefers to rely on his sword and innate skill in a fight, but setting something on fire or icing an enemy to the ground can be useful indeed.]
Are you doing that just for yourself?
no subject
[Backlit music is enjoyable to read, considering how Gokudera had performed during an outdoor party with other live music.]
All magic is useful in its own right. For other reasons outside of combat, of course.
[His elemental magic would help with combat, but Gokudera is very very careful about using it, and usually tends to jump to defense rather than offense when the going gets tough.]
No. I'd be willing to try it for someone else.
no subject
[Though Red Wine is sure he would be content with magic that he couldn't use in combat, but he can't deny the use of it when it's needed. It had been a challenge to incorporate it into his fighting as much as he has.]
I'd be happy to compensate you.
[Why not? It sounds useful.] If you'd be interested.
no subject
[As a fellow musician, he wouldn't feel right turning Red Wine down. It's just a good application for his magic, as well.]
I would just need you to provide me with the sheet music, and I can let you know when I'm done.
no subject
When I've procured an instrument and some music, I'll be sure to be in touch.
[Though given events to come... he may perhaps be forgiven for this taking longer than he expects it to.]
no subject
Until then
