Okay, looks like not everyone knows about this, so I'm gunna try to get right to the point.

Apparently, someone put out some magic that's given some of you humans animals ears and tails and what not. Personally I think you guys look better that way. But now another dude thinks that A) an animal mage did it, which makes no sense, 'cause last I checked, animal changes can only do that stuff to themselves, and B) thinks the best solution to reverse what's going on by murdering all the animal mages.

Yeah. Solid logic there.

I'm trying to give a head's up here because not only have animal mages been attacked, but so does anyone who already looked like an animal, including yours truly. I've personally seen some of these money-hungry monsters go after kids, so, just to be clear, it's bad out there right now. So if you're an animal mage, or you've always had non-human traits, please be safe! Don't go out alone if you can, stay in groups!

I'm sure we can get this nonsense wrapped up as soon as possible, but until then, let's make sure no one messes with our mages!

... Dude. That's totally what everyone says before they're in over their heads and need a heroic rescue. Why don't you throw in a "what's the worst that could happen" and a "I work alone" while you're in there?

I already know what the worst that can happen is. And, no... I don't normally work alone, but that doesn't mean I can't. I have in the past.

[He crossed his arms, doubling down.]

Okay, but why would you choose to? Working in a group is not only smarter, but more fun.

[Both Keith's expression and ears flattened in response.]

Riiiiiight... people are trying to kill me because I have animal magic... but I should go out in a group and put them in danger, too...

[Honestly, he did have friends from home here, but, if he didn't, he would have asked about going out in a group of strangers that he'd never met before and trusting them to watch his back when they could potentially make money off of killing him... but that was kind of a moot point when not everyone was a stranger to him.

He huffed a sigh and waved his hand around suddenly, looking away from he camera.]

Look, the point is... I'm not going to live my life holed up in my apartment or constantly escorted by a chaperone or a bodyguard just because of this. I can defend myself, so I will if I have to. And, if I can take them down in the process, even better. [He looked back at the camera again, crossing his arms stubbornly.] And no... I know I don't have to do it alone. I have people here I can trust if I need help. But I'm not going to put anyone in danger because of me if they don't have to be.

Safety in numbers, dude! They're less likely to pick on a group or at least more than one person. Amazingly, you're not famous enough yet so when someone sees you they know to back off. I'm not saying to lock yourself up if you don't want to - and no one says this thing is forever. Are you really getting huffy 'cause I'm asking folks to be careful for a little bit?

[tempredmental]

Right, because I totally thought I was famous... [Grumble grumble eye roll. Keith was the last person to seek fame. Not that it or infamy didn't find him despite his best efforts at times, but he was honestly glad not to be famous.]

I'm not being huffy. [Yes, Keith. Yes, you were. You were being stubborn, too.] I'm just... [Oof... sigh.] I'm just frustrated because I don't like having a babysitter. [And there it was.]

... I'm not saying you're incapable of kicking butt. I don't even know you, my man. But wanting others to be careful and safe isn't me saying "you're all weak and can't be trusted to be out there."

It's actually me saying "I care about all of you, even the ones I just met."

[tempredmental]

[That gets a somewhat skeptical look.]

Why would you?

[There was still a little bit of that orphan kid left to the foster care system that seriously doubted any adult that didn't know him actually caring... even if he was (sort of) the adult now himself.]

[ tempting as it is to ask 'why not', she's genre savvy enough to guess there's a A Sad Backstory that made him question it in the first place. ]

That's just the kind of person I am. I like people!

Mm. [Well, he didn't understand why someone would like people, but okay. He knew some out there were just better at the whole 'people person' thing than he was.] I suppose.
