Okay, looks like not everyone knows about this, so I'm gunna try to get right to the point.

Apparently, someone put out some magic that's given some of you humans animals ears and tails and what not. Personally I think you guys look better that way. But now another dude thinks that A) an animal mage did it, which makes no sense, 'cause last I checked, animal changes can only do that stuff to themselves, and B) thinks the best solution to reverse what's going on by murdering all the animal mages.

Yeah. Solid logic there.

I'm trying to give a head's up here because not only have animal mages been attacked, but so does anyone who already looked like an animal, including yours truly. I've personally seen some of these money-hungry monsters go after kids, so, just to be clear, it's bad out there right now. So if you're an animal mage, or you've always had non-human traits, please be safe! Don't go out alone if you can, stay in groups!

I'm sure we can get this nonsense wrapped up as soon as possible, but until then, let's make sure no one messes with our mages!

[ Some people might question a statement like that when Della is just a duck - and not exactly a tall one at that - but.. well, Minako has seen odd enough things in her life that she's willing to believe it.

Maybe all of Della's energy for a love life instead just went into monster fighting. ]

Yup! One guy after me, and another I saw going after a kid.

That second guy... I decided to test out some new curses on him.

Curses?!

[ It's hard to say if Minako sounds surprised or impressed.

.. but it's probably a little bit of both, let's be real. ]

My second magic is Dark magic. Normally I hate using it, but... I get mean when I get angry.

[ and nothing pisses her off more than innocent children getting hurt ]

[ Minako doesn't know too much yet about the different kinds of magic, but it would make sense that dark magic is what allows people to use curses..

And hey, she's not going to complain at all about curses being used on people like these. They deserve it! ]

What kind of curse did you use? [ She may be nosy.

B-But it also helps in determining what deters people who do this stuff, clearly! ]

The first curse I tossed was to give him nightmares! ... I'm not sure how long it'll last, since I'm still new at this part of my magic, but hopefully he won't be able to sleep for a while.

Well, I imagine that would work!

.. although I don't think it would stop him in the moment, right? [ You'd first have to wait for him to become so sleepless that he'd be unable to move! ] Unless you're saying these nightmares kick in right away!

I'll admit, not one of my brightest moments, but I was kinda panicking and throwing every curse I thought could stick. The next one was trying to give him all the wounds he gave the kid.

[ Well, that makes sense. And it also implies that a nightmare curse indeed works the way Minako initially imagined it - it doesn't cause nightmares until you sleep. ]

Hey, it's alright! I'm still super new to these powers too, so I get that there's a lot of fumbling around at first. [ .. and even later on, apparently. When you're panicked. ]

Did that second one work?

Now that one I know DID work! He got cuts on his hands, just like he gave to her! And then I tried to go all 'evil sorceress' on him, with spooky colors and big shadows to scare him away!

... And it didn't work, so, if we wanna think positively, no one can ever see me as a villain.

I think you're a little too cheery to be the 'evil sorceress' type.

Because she has the very same problem. Though she means it as a compliment, okay. So far Della's spirit seems to be one of the best things about her. ]

But did he at least leave her alone, even though you didn't exactly scare him off with your act? [ Now that's the important part! ]

I did manage to make him let her go, and she used her powers to build up an ice wall so we could get out of there.

That's good.. [ Though Minako still sounds thoughtful.

No matter how ditzy she usually acts, she's taking this situation really, really serious. ]

Maybe we should just start some buddy system while this is still going on? I can't imagine it's really safe for any animal mage to go out by themselves while there's freaks like that running around.

That's what I'm saying! We can't let our guards down until this nonsense is done, so none of us should be out alone - animal or anima mage!

Well.. tell me when you're going out?

[ Not that Minako is suggesting Della is friendless or wouldn't have people who'd accompany her! It's.. more just in case! ]

I can come with you whenever. Even if you can defend yourself, it's still good to have backup.

Not to worry! I've got back-up - I live with two guys who can kick plenty of tail feathers!

[ pause. considering. ]

... Uh, actually, I live with one guy who can do that and the other might be a good meat shield. But either way, I'm good!

[ alas, until Della learns Drake=Darkwing, he's just a dork. ]

[ Minako isn't.. too sure about how Della decides to use one of her housemates as a meat shield..

But she's pretty sure they've got to know each other pretty well if they live in the same house. He probably doesn't mind it too much. ]

That's good to hear. [ As long as Della's safe! ] I guess I should just focus on the animal mages living in my home for now then.

How many do you have in your place? I can offer myself as a bodyguard if you're not around!

There's that definite but hanging in the air, even though Minako doesn't voice it out loud. But it's enough to make her stop and think for a moment until she speaks up again, sounding pretty serious. ]

[ She nods. ]

Yes, she's a really close friend. [ Those words sure don't do her bond with Usagi justice - but then again, what words ever could? ]

She's an animal mage too. And.. I mean, we're all looking out for her!

[ That's their job, after all. ]

But I really don't want anything to happen to her, so I could always use an extra pair of eyes.

You got it! What does she look like? Helps to know what my eyes are watching out for.

[ Thank god for their physical similarities, it sure makes describing Usagi a lot easier. ]

Except instead of wearing her hair like mine, she has it up in two buns with long pigtails hanging from them! It's really unique, you can't miss it.

Yes, she's quiet for a good few moments. Minako might be trying to process (the mental damage of) the name Tokyolk. ]

Is it really popular there? [ Slowly.. blinking.. ] I mean, where we come from, she's pretty much the only one with that hairstyle. Some people make fun of it, but I think it's cute!
