This is my poor, poor sick brother Zuko. We are in dire straits because we cannot afford his medical expenses, so I am asking all you good, kind-hearted people in the world to please send us some money to make sure he can get better.

[ You can debate about how sincere this all was......., but she did her best sad and humble impression and she's had a lot of practice watching Zuko do it her whole life. Either way, she attaches whatever you need to send her cash directly. ]

Your Highness. [The title isn't said mockingly nor does he try for condescending. He is good at sincerity and patience. Zuko didn't seem to want to advertise that he was a prince but, judging from that username, it didn't seem like his sister felt the same.

[ It's weird to hear anyone use honorifics at her, honestly. She'd been displaced from the Fire Nation for long enough that it's pleasant to hear when not thrown at her disrespectfully, but it doesn't mean that their interaction will be any better for it. ]

It certainly wasn't trying to catch sympathetic imbeciles that wouldn't ask questions in a get rich quick scheme.

Indeed. I suppose I just didn't see a point in getting rich in this place. Where I'm from money does afford someone some power but here it seems superfluous.

[Financial stability and security is important but being rich didn't seem like a particularly worthwhile goal.

But then, though he was also a prince he grew up in a small border town and then spent four years wandering the country and even once considered living in the mountains and just hunting for his own food. So perhaps his perspective was the odd one.]

I've gotten enough to get my brother and I something to eat which main ingredient isn't high-fructose corn syrup, so I would consider it a win.

I'm currently living in a small house with two others. The original owner had been kind enough to let us pay it off in increments.
