[ Elfnein has a very panicked look on her face and an alien like familiar next to her. If you didn't know what it was you might just think it's a cute little monster.]

How do I get rid of a familiar? This one isn't safe to have around people.

[ Even though it's touching Elfnein's hand nothing is happening and it's just chilling. ]

It's a type of monster from my home that causes people to carbonize on contact. I can't let it hurt anyone here!

You don't get rid of them. They just keep hanging around bothering you.

But if it helps, I'm pretty sure it's not going to hurt anybody. It's not hurting you, right?

[ She's just now noticing that her familiar is touching her hand and it's not doing anything. ]

You're right! it's not causing a carbonization even though it's touching my hand.

What does a... carbonation usually look like?

A pile of ash.

Well. Definitely not going that, is it.

It's probably not even exactly the thing from your world, honestly. Mine's a butterfly, but it's clearly more than just a butterfly. It probably just took that shape because that'd be familiar to you, or something.

[alchemists]

That, that would make a lot of sense given how often I deal with these creatures back home.

[theonlyrealthing]

You deal often with creatures that turn people into ash? Are there a lot of them?

[Because she... looks kinda young to be dealing with a lot of little monsters that disintegrate people. (What is it with all these kids and teenagers lately? It's weirding him out, a little.)]

[alchemists]

They're a common enemy, but I'm not the one fighting them. I provide observational support and tech support. Though the group that was making these creatures has been disbanded so it's not as bad as it was before.

[That's a relief. Too many of these kids wanting to jump into combat.]

Does seem like it, doesn't it. What's it like where you're from, Elfnein?

[alchemists]

It's peaceful now, but there have been several people wanting to destroy the world that had to be stopped.

[theonlyrealthing]

[What the hell.]

Why would they want to destroy something you live on? Wouldn't that mean they'd die, too?

[alchemists]

Sort of? They all had valid reasons for why they wanted to do. But we stopped them before they managed to get that far.

[theonlyrealthing]

That's good. That's real good. So I guess you have experience with this whole threat to the whole world kind of thing.

[Kids. Kids have experience with this, and a twenty-seven year old prince doesn't. It's nuts.]

[alchemists]

It's a little sad to say but yes, I have experience with it.
