Uh, hey all my party peeps. I was kinda hoping to ask for some advice, if you've got any to spare?

Back at that masquerade - major fun, by the way, would do again - we all got second magic, right? I was all, like, score, more magic! Except then I learned my second magic was... dark magic. Hexes, curses, shadow manipulation...

Here's the deal. Back home? I know one person one did all that jazz - especially the shadow stuff - and she's straight up evil... Magica De Spell. One of the worst people ever. I mean, if she ever came here? I'd be giving her nonstop punches to the face. I can give you more deets if you need, but trust me, she's called The Shadow Queen for a reason. Sooo learning that I can now do the stuff she does? Kinda made me feel icky all over. Like, I've never heard of someone using curses for good. Even the idea of using it on my enemies just ruffles my feathers.

But I know that's, like, super prejudiced and stuff! And I also know there's probably a ton of you with dark magic who do awesome work with it! So that's what I'm asking for - how to use my dark magic for good, besides fighting bad guys. I know I'll never turn into Evil De Stupidface no matter what, but, still, every little bit helps. Just whack me with the common sense bat ya'll have.

In the wrong hands that could be just as bad as dark magic, don't you think? Magic is quite common where I come from and I've met good mages and bad mages alike - and their skills are remarkably similar. It just comes down to how you choose to use it.

If you have something in common with that Magica woman, then it's purely in name only.

Well... when you put it that way, yeah. But I don't have any mental association that puts "flying" with "bad". I've flown planes all my life, and it's one of my greatest joys. So when I found out what kinetic does, I was way beyond happy.

So it’s more about the association in your head? I suppose that makes sense.

Just because it’s “dark” doesn’t mean it’s evil. Make it your own - and perhaps the only way to do that is by using it against bad guys, as you said. It’s your magic at the end of the day, and you get to decide whether to help or to harm.

In that case, I wish there was more bad guys to beat up on the daily. Does that make me sound like a bad person?

Not terribly. I understand the desire to want to use your new magic. My housemate practices hexes on himself, to varying degrees of success.

Personally, I'd stick to looking out for quests that you might be able to help with. You can also inquire around with the locals - in my experience, farmers often need help keeping beasts off their property.
