Regain; video, un: saxitup

Just a heads up, it seems if you regain something from home, it may very well end up being from the future. I just got back a laptop that has more information on it than I should know. Namely songs, videos and pictures of me, my band and our rivals. I might make a CD out of some of the best ones.

[It's kind of strange, but he hasn't got that many complaints. More songs to practice and perform. Just...]

To think how much I still have to experience at home and yet I'm stuck in other worlds. Now even time being frozen there...

[He sounds kind of tired. He has wonderful friends, he has Camus here now, but he still missed home a lot. And likely always would until he finally got back home.]

I have a lot of drawings. Things from home, people I've cared about. When I feel sad I look at them.

That sounds wonderful. I wish I had the ability to draw people better. I think my room would be full of art.

You don't get any better at it by just wishing for it - if you want to be good at drawing you ought to practice.

That's true. I'll have to work on my skills from time to time, whenever I have spare time.

The band I belong to mostly plays Japanese pop. I tend to alter between that and jazz-inspired music when I'm feeling more like playing the saxophone.

Both are solid options. I haven't written a song in a long time, so that might be a nice way to pass time.

I try to summon up the best memory of home I possibly can and think over every detail. Sometimes, it's almost like being there. Of course, there are times when it does make me miss it all the more, but it also serves as a reminder of what I'm working so hard to get back to.

Strange, that you should get something from the future. The pictures must be nice. Maybe they'll help with that homesickness a bit.

I might try that. It also works as meditation, which is always good. But that's true about the reminder. Especially in a situation like this.

I think music is a good way of reconnecting if you have access to it.
I wouldn't mind hearing something from my own world,
but I don't think I remember the songs as well.

I do look at some of the pics on my phone when I start to miss friends from back home.

miwako looks at pictures from home that i keep in my planner and listens to the mixed CDs they sent me of my boyfriend's band

I admit I haven't listened to a lot of punk, but from what I've heard I have liked it.

[ And as promised, Miwako shows up in an hour looking cute as a button in a white fitted dress with hot pink and pale pink polka dots, white fluffy trim (even on her matching high-heels and matching wrist cuffs!), and a sheer panel across her décolletage of translucent pale pink fabric with pinker polka dots, shin-length socks matching this pale pink too. Her pastel pink hair is curled in pigtails tied up with fluffy white baubles. She wears a sparkling Happy Berry pendant and a floppy Happy Berry backpack, even studded Happy Berry earrings...! These are all things she's been sent with from home that make her happy, although sometimes bittersweet. Topical to their meeting. She's all smiles as she approaches the karaoke bar, immediately searching the lobby for the idol with eager eyes. ]

[Since Ren isn't working today, he's wearing very casual clothes. He walks out of one of the employee only doors and waves to Miwako from a distance as he walks over.]

You look lovely as always, Miwako-chan.

Ahh, likewise, likewise~! Thank you for meeting me!

[ Perhaps inappropriately familiar, Miwako throws her arms around Ren's neck and shoulders for a quick, loose hug, before pulling back and clasping her hands together at her own chin, tilting her head excitedly. ]

I'm so excited! Thank you for helping me rip Ara's music! He can be intergalactically famous!

[Re doesn't feel like it's in any way inappropriate. He smiles over the hug and just at Miwako in general.]

And I'm glad I can help you out with it. Come on, it's through this door.

[He leads her through the backdoor into a two bedroom flat located up the stairs from the bar. They haven't had much chances to decorate yet, but he does have a sofa and a sofa table on which his laptop currently is.]

Would you like anything to drink?

[ She follows, gazing around snoopily as they walk, and gently bows when he offers her a drink. ]

Ah, yes! Thank you! What are my options?

[ She's happy with tea or water or whatever he offers her. But a sneaking temptation in the back of her mind wonders if he means from the bar. She is... not above day drinking, lately. She's been sad and lonesome. If she has a mimosa in the mornings before work sometimes instead of a cappuccino, to perk herself up, what's the harm, right? She's been in a certain mental state, though it's hard to tell with how cheery and cutesy she always seems. Her smile hides a lot. ]

There are a few soft drinks, one tastes like strawberries and one tastes like mangoes. Of course there's water, coffee or tea as well.

[So no alcoholic options, even if sometimes daytime drinking does sound good to Ren.]

Ooh! That's a hard choice, strawberry or mango...

[ She wears a look of intense deliberation, more than is probably deserved for the matter at hand, but then nods decisively, shooting him a smile. ]

Mango, I think! Miwako has strawberry everything all the time, hehe~

Well, you're as sweet as strawberries yourself, so I'm not surprised.

[He winks and then provides them both with a bottle of mango soft drinks and glassess, in case they'd rather drink from those than a bottle.]

[ She grins at him with a little tilt of her head, taking the bottle of mango soda and filling their glasses, his first, then hers, polite, polite... She raises hers in a toast first, though. ]

i look at portraits they sent me with. of people from home. and one photo i took in another world with my best friend.
i also used to make model warships too and painted them to look like the ones in my world.

the warships in other worlds are more advanced than in mine so a lot of the model ships reflected that and looked really alien to me
but it was still a fun hobby for a while
i don't have a desk anymore living in the inn so i stopped here

They mentioned animals are part of the items, despite not being, hm, items. Not sure about the second part though. You would have to ask them yourself.

There's always room at the karaoke bar. One of the rooms is dedicated for people who just wants to sit and chat in quiet for a while. So perhaps you could sometimes continue your hobby there? I would at least be interested to see what the ships look like.

it takes a long time to build a ship... many days... and a fair amount of space. theyre small but complex. lots of little parts to spread out.

That doesn't look like any warships I have seen, you're right. Not even the games I play have stuff like that.

Karaoke bar is a little different. You can walk in at any age as the main point is to sing. There are days where there's an age restriction but most of the time it's free-for-all. The bar part can be confusing, I admit.

But if you do feel like you really want to make one and need the space, I can always rent you a room for a few days so no one else can mess with the project. I wouldn't mind. At least it's something to keep in mind.

Yes. There are machines there that play music and show the lyrics and anyone can sing to them. Of course, if there aren't songs you know, we do our best to get songs you do recognize. And there are snacks and drinks too, but we have soft drinks for people underage.

Unfortunately, no. I'm rather familiar with horn instruments, but that is unfamiliar to me.

Even bad singers are welcome. Karaoke is for everyone, no matter the skill level.
