[ The photograph attached to the post depicts the front of a small shop called Polydegmon's Lapidary and Brew. It's got that 'new store' look, where everything looks pristine and nothing has been touched by grime or dust settling in the corners yet. It's not the most terribly modern-looking place (look, the rent was cheap).
He wouldn't even be advertising it here if a certain someone didn't bug him to. Honestly, he could do without the publicity... ]
I am now accepting commissions as a goldsmith and alchemist. My hours are from midday to six, weekdays only. Or whatever it is you call them. No, my prices are not negotiable.
[ Attached beneath the above terse remark is the address to the store. ]
Additionally, I will NOT accept requests for items to use in warfare of any sort. At all. If I find that you have done so then I will make sure you regret it for the remainder of your days.
(ooc: Please respect that a character will suffer some kind of IC consequence if they try and use his products as IC war propaganda or in serious IC war efforts. Doubly so if they deceive him for it.

At the end of the day all I want is to see the other side of the conversation. Theres no such thing as one side to a story
Too good to be true simply means that the the notion is too perfect to be real. Its usually cautionary. The idiom usually goes 'if its too good to be true it probably is.' Im not trying to imply theres something sinister at the heart of your peaceful society but Im willing to bet most people believe there is. Hence my comment about emotional lobotomy and whatnot.
For what its worth Im sorry for that. Where I come from when an argument gets shut down like that its because the other party sees themselves as above the other person in the conversation.
Believe it or not I tried that. In fact before this whole thing I was a close friend and ally of my kingdom's city guard. Unfortunately in some cases our friendship was only one sided. I wasnt given a choice.

As for the idiom... I see what it means, or at least I believe I do. 'Tis not a concept my people are familiar with, but I can understand the logic behind doubting a seemingly outrageous claim that goes against the existing knowledge. Is that the manner of thing that is meant by it? The difference would be that in my world we would of course immediately move to debate and test it rather than advocate caution.
I am truly sorry to hear of your fate, but perplexed as well. Do you mean to say that they meant to bring harm to you? To what end?

So youre telling me your society is based on science. On testing and reinforcing your position with data rather than raw emotion and belief. Am I understanding correctly?
Thats not something I can answer properly. I managed to track down the person who framed me and it seemed that his entire motivation was to break me. Physically, emotionally, spiritually.
He wanted to take everything away from me.

That is... terrifying. Why would he do something like that?
I confess, it feels somewhat disingenuous for me to continue speaking of my society alongside your tragedy. We may revisit the topic later should you wish it?
Although the thought occurs that it may be better to hold such a discussion face to face rather than over the text. While there are some curious aspects to such a mode of communication, I do not believe aught beats a direct conversation.

I would like that. I'm opening my forge up to the public this week. You're welcome to come by.

But I should be glad to see you at your forge! I shall certainly keep an eye out for the announcement. :)
