Sixth: Weapons Testing (Text; anon) - spoilers/blood magic/bees tw
[As promised to one of her other anonymous network contacts, Mukuro had been testing out how her magical-ammunition upgrade had worked with her magic. And, well, it had certainly proved an interesting experience.
Time to report her findings and gather more information. It was a risk to reveal her own magic types, but given how little she used them, hopefully that would be enough to keep her undercover operation in tact.]

I have been conducting research into the magical reload functionality offered by the Elphame Traders. It would be useful to hear other people's observations/experiences so that we can pool knowledge for future combat operations, if required.
I can't afford to put a name to this post as I am currently working undercover, but I hope revealing my own findings first will count for something.
Tests so far have been carried out with a Pistol, Semiautomatic, 9mm.
Animal magic has proved ineffective for combat use save for niche circumstances- streams of angry insects are prone to behave erratically and are hazardous to the user in question.
Blood magic bullets have properties close to that of real bullets, however not sustainable for extended missions- lightheadedness occurs after 2nd reload.
I want to understand:
1) If someone has a weapon with this enchantment, can it be used by others?
2) Have people with the same magic types as me found similar effects? And, relatedly, what effects have people with other magic types found?
3) Does weapon type/calibre make a difference to the effect?
Thank you for any intelligence you can offer. And if the information I've given here is enough for you to identify me, please keep the thread between us.
Unrelatedly- has anyone figured out if the fruit from the plants we found at the solstice is safe for consumption?
Over and out.

[And now back to nursing her many bee stings.]

They wouldn't return my money since the spell to get the bazooka here was used up. As for why it shoots confetti, apparently that's an island-wide spell - like the one that translates everybody's language - that affects all heavy weaponry. Understandable that they don't want to risk that sort of damage, but it sure is a bummer. I've just got it in my room as a souvenir from home now.
[While he's here he may as well contribute some insight on the actual topic from the perspective of a fire/death mage...]
Regarding my own magic types, I think elemental magic is usually more effective as-is - unless perhaps if the enemy has a hard shell that the element it's weak to can't penetrate, but a bullet could -, and I have no clue how death magic could figure into weaponry.
[Can he put a ghost in a bullet and shoot it?? Honestly, the target would likely not be in a state to be possessed anymore after that.]

Frustrating that you're stuck with a confetti bazooka though. If people don't know it has lost it's capabilities it could be used for intimidation but otherwise, limited to being a souvenir as you said.
I can imagine elemental being the most versatile to infuse in weapons- arguably one of the more combat-efficient magic types I have seen here. Agreed that death magic would be...difficult. Perhaps it would let you hit incorporeal entities that normal bullets would pass through?

[He briefly reflects on the possibilities Mukuro is suggesting for his magic types. Maybe this can actually be more fruitful than he thought!]
I'm actually primarily a blade user; the bazooka is my backup weapon. So I'll see if I can get my sword enchanted in some way! Being able to cut elemental creatures like those damn fire lions in the Lands of Rot or malicious spectres would be really really useful.

Do you think enchanting bladed weaponry is possible? My primary weapon is my pistol but I can use a blade in close combat that will be useful to enchant if that proves possible.
I'd be interested to hear if you find a good lead.

I'll see what I can find out. I'd be surprised if there weren't some ways of enchanting weapons. Aren't elemental swords and such a big staple of RPGs?
[Very scientific approach, Hijikata.]
no subject
If only Hijikata knew...]
Appreciated. And yes, if enchanted ammunition is possible then the same must be for blades.
I'll have to experiment with magic in that way as well.
...I would disagree with your thought process but I don't think we can realistically discount video game logic in a world like this.
no subject
Yeah, trust me! I know my tropes.
[It's mostly second-hand knowledge, but it still counts! With that topic more or less covered...]
How's your other stuff going?
[Being undercover and stressed out over it, he means.]
no subject
My mission? I think I have a balance now, but it still seems as if this side of me gets in the way of performing my operation properly.
[If she was given the chance to suppress that side of her, would she take it? There was magic in this world, so...]
no subject
That's good-ish to hear, I guess. I still don't get why you're so insistent on keeping your mission going with the objective out of reach, but ultimately you've got to make these decisions for yourself.
[Stubborn as he got about it during their last discussion - mainly because he was getting the impression that her commander wasn't the greatest and the situation was rubbing him the wrong way - he can't afford to stick his neck too deeply into other people's business either.]
Do you have any support here? Other soldiers, friends, advisors?
no subject
More used to taking orders than deciding things for myself.
And I don't want to let my Commander down.
...There's a couple of people who know who I am and a couple of people who don't. They look out for me.
[Hijikata himself being one of them.]
I have one person in mind who might know about enchanted blades. I'm guessing from your message you already have your sword here?
no subject
That's good to hear. Still, don't let other people rope you into THEIR missions now or anything.
I had my sword on me when I arrived, luckily. Do tell; I'll hit them up for sure!

His name's Darin- he's a blacksmith. You might've seen him around by now.
no subject
Yeah, I know him. Blue hair, right? I'll see what ideas he has for my sword.
no subject
He does good work.
no subject
[He's actually looking forward to experimenting on this with Darin. Despite their regular head-butting he puts great stock in him!]
no subject
I'll let you know if I learn anything else, too.
[And, assuming he doesn't follow up with anything else, she'll sign off: ]
Over and out.
