Hi friends! Claude here. I haven't met most of you yet, so I suppose this would be a good time to say "nice to meet you", too. Hope your mirror images were nice to you and not... you know.

[Claude's sitting indoors by a sunny window in his treehouse apartment, his small white wyvern familiar snoozing beside him.]

As eager as I am to get to know everyone, what I actually wanted to talk about was the situation with Elphame. Since Arthur dumped the decision on what to do on our shoulders, we'd better figure out how to cast our votes.

For my part, based on past relations between Elphame and Camelot, invading Celliwig is out of the question. Humans and fae have waged wars here in the past, and it's taken a lot of effort to earn the peace they have now. Camelot has even been making strides to learn about fae and coexist peacefully with them. Given Celliwig is our best chance for communication, attacking would be completely counterproductive. Even if we did, there's no guarantee we'd succeed, so why risk it?

That said, direct negotiation hasn't worked either, so our two remaining options are to focus on slowly building up trust via trade links, or deal with matters on Celliwig's terms and accept their trials. Honestly, I'm not clear on the details on that, so if someone who knows more could get the rest of us up to speed, by all means...?

[He trails off with a shrug, then gives a sheepish smile.]

Anyway, I've waffled on for a while now! Long story short, I think our peaceful options are really the best shot we have at this, it's just a matter of deciding which is best. I'm really not interested in letting a violent old history repeat itself. Feel free to pitch in with your own thoughts... Maybe we can even come up with something better than what's already being proposed.

[He gives a lazy wave, before ending the feed.]

I admit, I have kept my head down in regards to the politics of the place. It was never my strong suit, however... given my own experience with war, I cannot in good conscience support any such antagonism.

That comes as a welcome surprise. Humanity seems far too quick to go to war, even for so called 'just' causes, and all it brings with it is suffering and destruction.

And that's in the 'best' of circumstances, when the war is not simply for war's sake.

Agreed. All I'd like to see is a peaceful world where everyone can set aside their differences, and we can work together to stop the calamity threatening us all.

I know it's easier said than done. But at the same time, it's so simple... I want to think it's possible.

It is unfortunate then that it is human nature to fear what they do not understand, and turn that fear into hatred and violence. Anything new or unusually almost instantly becomes classified as a threat to be put down, with understanding being preferable only in a post-mortem perspective.

Even when something is not 'new' or 'unusual' it seems humanity is far too eager to spill blood, both others and their own...

Believe me, I know all of that. For anyone who's been on the receiving end of such things in the past, some of the current discussions in the city can't be easy to see.

But even if people hate the fae, maybe they'll put their self-interest first, if nothing else. We can't save the worlds if we're preoccupied fighting a war.

[gundhamster]

Getting ourselves killed in a needless war does seem counterproductive considering the fate of all our worlds seems to hinge on our survival.

[There's a pause in Gundham's reply. He'd hoped to avoid conflict, but it doesn't seem like this was going to be something that could resolve peacefully, with some being so vocal about their bloodlust.]

...Should things come to a head, let me know. I do not wish to step onto a battlefield again, but if it prevents a larger conflict, I will be there.

[He realises he doesn't know the guy's name.]

[He considers giving his normal spiel but ultimately keeps it restrained.]

Gundham Tanaka. While obviously not my true name, do not use it lightly, mortal.

If you're not mortal, what are you, exactly?

I am the offspring of a sordid affair between an angel and demon. I suppose the colloquial term for such a being would be Nephelim, though I dislike such labels. I am simply what I am; Gundham Tanaka, the Forbidden One.

You know, this crazy island makes it impossible to tell if you're serious, or just really getting into character. Either way, I applaud your commitment to the drama.

There are times when drama is all a person has to cling to, and others when beings of power lay themselves bare to avoid suspicion. I leave to your imagination what category I fall into.
