Ah, hello.

[The video opens to Kaede - pale and thin as ever - in a room that's recognizable as one of the inn rooms. He looks nervous, but to anyone who's seen him before that's... That's about how he always looks.

After a moment, he sighs.]

I've been wondering this for a while - sometimes there are requests to kill someone, but some people seem opposed to doing things like that, and I just... Don't understand why? Is it really so wrong to end someone's life if that's what you're told to do?

[What do you mean people have moral codes????]

I'm sure this is obvious to most people, but it's been... Bothering me. Is killing such a bad thing? Are there really people here who haven't done that before?

[...]

A-anyways, that's all I was wondering but, ah, you don't have to feel obligated to answer! I'm sure I'll figure it out.

If they actually put up a good fight it is. There's no better thrill than putting your life at risk and being the one to live through it.

[Hawk's own tone gives the impression that even the thought of it is exciting to him. Excuse him and his screwed up brain here.]

If you haven't been there you wouldn't know. Though there's also a rush that you can get at ridding the world of someone who truly deserves to die.

Those with power and strength decide. Can't exactly kill someone who deserves it if you're weaker than them. All living creatures are subject to the most basic law of nature whether they acknowledge this or not: the strong will survive and the weak become prey.

Can tell you've never hunted animals before. No, I don't eat people. What I'm saying is that in nature the mouse cannot hunt the lion. The mouse is too weak for that. The lion, however, can choose whether the mouse will live or die. People come in all levels of strength, but the weak still cannot kill the strong.

That's exactly it. It's not so much about what laws a society has, it's about the ability to enforce those laws.
