Has anyone figured out how to restore their original abilities yet?
Hamon, magic-whatever you wish to call it. I refuse to accept it's gone for good.
[Guess who's cranky about losing his spicy breathing powers??]

Hah! What did you gain back? The ability to chew bark and trot around a field?

No, we have great hearing and environmental awareness.

And those hardly qualify as a power. Every animal has that ability.
no subject
You'd be surprised to know that it isn't always the case. Some animals are pretty stupid.
no subject
So not all animals in your world are like you?
no subject
Or like me as in deer?
Not all deer, most walk and talk.
Presumably, not all humans have the same skills, talents, and things that come naturally. It's the same for us.
no subject
Well, everyone comes from vastly different places. It stands to reason 'Animal Planet' is more than just a channel.]
This must be odd for you to be in a world full of humans then.
no subject
[ Without even skipping a beat, he's making it weirder. ]
It's also totally normal for people to train four legged horses and ride on their backs. Especially when you've met horses personally.
Not that I think this place is anything resembling normal for you guys, either.

Neither do I, but there has to be a way to bring them back-through our familiars or otherwise. Someone must know the answer.

Back home, I was... given my powers so that I could complete the Focus, er, my mission. It might be something similar.
no subject
Is that so? And what happened to those new powers after you completed your mission?
no subject
I'll let you know when I find out.
no subject
[Not all goals take a day to complete-he gets it.]
voice;
[ Riou never had any technically supernatural abilities, so he's not sure, but he's always sure that completing the mission is how you satisfy yourself. Surely, that would work. ]
no subject
They would have benefited by finding a way for us to keep our natural talents instead of having us mess around with this nonsense.
[There's a neigh in the background-don't sass him unicorn. Learn some hamon and then they'll talk.]
We could have met our goals far faster.
no subject
[ He didn't lose anything, after all, but he appreciates that the playing field is leveled despite that in some ways. He can imagine losing some of your skills is annoying though. He was very upset when he was no longer allowed to snipe people. ]
no subject
What power were you given here?
no subject
[ He's learning the names of his dinner now, it's uncomfortable. Not insurmountable, though. ]
no subject
[That's rough buddy.]
That would be difficult to maneuver around.

I don't think I lost any of my abilities! Instead I just got this cool power to make light triangles!
[That's not all it can do, but okay Misumi.
He blinks curiously at the camera.]
Did you stop being able to do stuff you could?? That's pretty awful!
video
[Because if so, he'd be interested to see how this guy is managing to handle it. Caesar can bend the light in a similar way for an extremely short period of time.]
Yes, I trained for years in the art of hamon. Now it's gone in the blink of an eye, hidden behind this ability instead. I can't bring it out at all.
no subject
[Misumi gets just like... a little too close to the camera now, obviously getting excited.]
What's a hamon? Is it like the magic here or really different?? Can you make triangles with it???
[Only the important questions, of course.]
no subject
He's happy to jab about the former, at least.]
It's different in practice, but the outcome is similar. Hamon requires discipline over your own breathing to bring out energy inside you. The magic here lacks that trait.
[A beat, and-]
But a practiced user could put that energy into triangle shaped objects. It's a power its users to customize to their advantage.
no subject
How do you breathe? Isn't breathing just breathing? Ahhh, but it sounds like a really cool magic! I have lots of energy, so I bet I could do pretty good!
[No, not that kind of energy, but he's delighted and happy to listen to Caesar talk about it more at least.]
no subject
No, it goes deeper than that. We had to wear masks that regulated our air intake for the first months of training. It requires that level of precision.
[This kid? Would have some problems, judging by the way he's talking. That itself is a trial in those masks.]
The amount of energy you have doesn't matter if you aren't able to control it.
no subject
Whooooa... so it takes lots of practice? I bet you're super powerful then if you went through all that!
[Suddenly, he frowns softly.]
But... you said you can't do it here? That really sucks... I would've wanted to see it...
no subject
When this world sees fit to give me back that power, I'll show you. They can't keep it hostage forever.
no subject
Yes! I'm sure they'll give it back to you real soon! You seem like a really cool guy, so you definitely deserve to get it back~
[He's just... really impressed by people who train hard in their craft.]
