Um, hey there. Ah, Ruby Rose, here. I'm new, but you probably figured that.

[Okay, she's definitely a little bit nervous. Ruby's not exactly what one would call a social butterfly - she definitely got comfortable enough with Beacon to make friends there, but that's not really relevant anymore. Once she had any downtime in Atlas, she didn't know what to do with herself. And now, THIS? Is a lot to adjust to.

She fidgets and clears her throat.] So, got a tiny question, here...

I think I kinda get the whole familiars thing, but mine is, well... it puts me in a bit of an odd place.

Basically, has anyone ever gotten anything that should be a soulless killing machine back in their world? That, I don't know, would've been born in power surrounding your world's greatest evil...? [That, back home, she has a power specifically meant to ERADICATE things like the Grimm, AKA the very form her familiar has taken.] Anything like that?

[She realizes she's being very specific here.]

Because I'll be honest, the fact my familiar isn't trying to eat me, or anyone around me, is almost more unnerving than if he was.

[ As to Ruby's explanation of the Beowulf, it rings a bell with the swordsman. Someone back on Prismatica must have told him about it. Holding to his silence for a moment after she sorts her thoughts about her Familiar, he calmly chimes back in. ]

You just can't forget whose the Master. If you do that, it'll do more good than anything else.

[She eyes him a little curiously, but mostly keeps her thoughts to herself. While certain details are flying right over her head, that first bit stands out to her as more familiar than she'd expect from just Weiss talking about her. Maybe? Hm. Well, she tucks it away.]

...Master. Huh. Hadn't really thought of myself like that, and it feels kind of weird... but given what it is we're talking about, that might not be the worst idea.

Luckily, it hasn't been disobedient so far, just... Grumpy? It's weird.

[ He leans back a little out of impulse when he catches her curiouser gaze. It doesn't quite occur to him that he's gotta dance around this whole "knowing someone already" business. But...then again, for the most part? This is the first time he's had to do this. It wasn't often you hopped between worlds that weren't your own and still remembered it all. In the meantime, that thought will come later but get put on the backburner. ]

Hm... Kinda. [ He shakes his head at the title anyway. ] Guess it's more a partnership—

[ And just as he says this? The Chocobo Chick Warks at the blond, fluttering its little wings and tugging on Cloud's ear. ]

Ggh— Hey.

[ He flinches, but maybe his familiar was being cheeky after Cloud went with the whole "master" phrase. But he does little to stop the chick from its fussy little nipping. ]

[For Ruby's part, she's not really... critical about it, in her head at least. She figures she's missing something, but there's a lot of weirdness for people arriving here. She's already gathered that much from her initial talk with Weiss. Given her own mistakes, she's definitely learning to judge a little less on certain things.

Besides, he seems nice enough. She figures she'll work things out eventually.

For now, she just bursts out laughing.]

So, uh... Master. Right.

At the very least, I'll try to put my foot down a little more. Maybe that'd be enough.

[ Cloud finally gives a gentle tap onto the little bird's beak, distracting it as it attempts to bite the digit instead. But it's not so hard either, before the blond succeeds in taming it by petting the top of its own fluffy spiked head. ]

Guess I walked into that one.

[ But it's still good to know that she's at least going to try and keep charge of her Grimm companion. He thinks of how it's almost like the Schnee family summoning felled Grimm of their own. ]

Hope so. We're all learning as we go.

[Ruby certainly knows she's "walked into it" more than a few times. Sometimes on repeat. So she's definitely not one to really rub it in. The comparison to what the Schnees are able to do HAS crossed her mind here or there, and it's a decent way to look at it.]

Well, talking to everyone has definitely made me feel a lot better about it, anyway, and also maybe sorta-confident we can actually get this thing done. Save our worlds. That whole thing.

Yeah...

[ The thought runs through Cloud's mind. Knowing what was happening in Atlas with Ironwood declaring Martial Law, it sounded like things were only going to get harder from there. As far as he knows? His world is secured...it's just a matter of fixing things elsewhere. Even if he can't reach there so easily... ]

We'll be countin' on you too, Ruby.

[ Ah- That reminds him. Blinking in realization (he's terrible at this! re-meeting people, that is,) he rubs the back of his head. ]

Name's Cloud, by the way.

Well, if it's what we gotta do, it's what we gotta do, right? So... only thing's left is to work on doing it.

[She smiles lightly. Definitely still trying not to think too hard about Atlas.] Thanks, though- ah, Cloud.

And hey, maybe we'll end up working together on something or another! [After all, if he's friends with Weiss.

That gust of wind is things flying over her head again.]

[ Ruby has such a way with words. But he can't help but thinly smile back. She's not wrong. ]

[ Cloud's already withholding the fact that they're dating from her right now. Probably for the best that he didn't try to break Ruby's brain with all the crossworld processing. It confused him from the start too. ]
