Um, hey there. Ah, Ruby Rose, here. I'm new, but you probably figured that.
[Okay, she's definitely a little bit nervous. Ruby's not exactly what one would call a social butterfly - she definitely got comfortable enough with Beacon to make friends there, but that's not really relevant anymore. Once she had any downtime in Atlas, she didn't know what to do with herself. And now, THIS? Is a lot to adjust to.
She fidgets and clears her throat.] So, got a tiny question, here...
I think I kinda get the whole familiars thing, but mine is, well... it puts me in a bit of an odd place.
Basically, has anyone ever gotten anything that should be a soulless killing machine back in their world? That, I don't know, would've been born in power surrounding your world's greatest evil...? [That, back home, she has a power specifically meant to ERADICATE things like the Grimm, AKA the very form her familiar has taken.] Anything like that?
[She realizes she's being very specific here.]
Because I'll be honest, the fact my familiar isn't trying to eat me, or anyone around me, is almost more unnerving than if he was.

Yeah, I guess explaining it like I did would be kinda weird for someone from another place. Grimm have just... always existed, as far as we know. [At least as far back as humanity's first effective extinction, anyway.] They've been there for centuries, and that's just... all they've done, as far as we know.
It's why folks like me are trained from a young age to be Hunters. Fighting and fending them off so cities and settlements can exist relatively peacefully.

Where I'm from, everything is pretty normal. No magic, no mysterious killing machine monsters. No superpowers.
Just people living fairly normal and average lives.

Like... I love my world and I want to fight for it, but 'mysterious killing machine monsters' and superpowers ARE normal and average for us. It's honestly kinda hard to think about a world that doesn't have all that stuff.
Has to be kind of rough getting dragged here, if your world's a lot more normal than this.

I'm not human, though. If that matters. No one is where I'm from. Our world has it's own problems, though. Different, but their own. Yours sound like they found a way to manage their problems.

Actually yeah, that makes a lot of sense. I'm having to relearn a lot about HOW I fight or react to dangerous situations, on the other hand.
But, I wouldn't have guessed you weren't human. Honestly, that's pretty cool!
...though, "managing" our problems is maybe giving us a bit too much credit. Things aren't... great from where we left them when I landed here.

Or maybe I'm just a diligent student.
Hmm, that's no good. I guess it is lucky things are paused while here so there's opportunity to seek out solutions.

[She muses on that last point. That's a good point, actually.]
Well, maybe... It gives me a lot more time to think about it, at least. I've got to try and keep a little positive at least, and not dwell too much on back home, or... well, I don't think I'd be getting much done.

Well, in theory if we do what we're meant to here - home will be as it's meant to be when we get back.
