Um, hey there. Ah, Ruby Rose, here. I'm new, but you probably figured that.
[Okay, she's definitely a little bit nervous. Ruby's not exactly what one would call a social butterfly - she definitely got comfortable enough with Beacon to make friends there, but that's not really relevant anymore. Once she had any downtime in Atlas, she didn't know what to do with herself. And now, THIS? Is a lot to adjust to.
She fidgets and clears her throat.] So, got a tiny question, here...
I think I kinda get the whole familiars thing, but mine is, well... it puts me in a bit of an odd place.
Basically, has anyone ever gotten anything that should be a soulless killing machine back in their world? That, I don't know, would've been born in power surrounding your world's greatest evil...? [That, back home, she has a power specifically meant to ERADICATE things like the Grimm, AKA the very form her familiar has taken.] Anything like that?
[She realizes she's being very specific here.]
Because I'll be honest, the fact my familiar isn't trying to eat me, or anyone around me, is almost more unnerving than if he was.

[He aims the camera at the lizard on his shoulder. It's unusual looking for most people, but far from terrifying.]
And I know he doesn't look like much, but he's just a little one and they eat souls!
no subject
[She blinks a bit and then balks.]
They EAT SOULS?
[She frowns and sits back.] Somehow that's a little more worrying than mine just eating people outright...
no subject
I don't think this one eats souls. He hasn't eaten mine, at least.
no subject
Just, uh. How would you KNOW? Like if he. Ate someone's... soul.
no subject
Or maybe it's because...
Or...]
I don't know!
no subject
[This does not inspire confidence in Ruby.]
Well. I guess, the way folks talk, these familiars don't act in the same ways they would in our home worlds, so, uh.
I dunno. Watch out for sudden dead bodies?

no subject
[A long, awkward beat.]
That's a pretty good question.
I'm-- I'm sure it's fine... [She's not.]
no subject
no subject
Well, you're not dead yet, right?
[That must sound reassuring.]
And you've been here longer than me!
If it really needed to eat souls, would it have turned down the closest target?
[That's Ruby, always thinking tactically.]
no subject
[Said as if he's willing to doubt this fact given the right evidence.]
So it's probably not eating my soul.
I still don't know about anyone else. Maybe it can't eat mine because we're connected, but it's taking a bite out of everyone I walk by!
no subject
[What a way to phrase that. She blinks and shakes her head.]
If people around you aren't dying, it should be fine. Right?
[She really opened a can of worms, here.]
no subject
I'm still keeping an eye on it!
no subject
[She laughs nervously.] But, hey. You have any problems, there's plenty of folks around here that could probably help.
[you know so long as that problem isn't dropping dead]
