So, this is odd. Pretty sure this place isn't a plan of Oblivion and I would know if I had died and gone to a very odd afterlife. I think. I am terribly confused by everything going on right now.

Wouldn't be so bad if I hadn't lost my powers. Fus ro dah! Iiz slen nus! Odahviing!

[He looks at the skies, like he's expecting something.]

You speak of Oblivion like it's a proper noun. What do you mean by that?

I can still do elemental magic, anyway. But my alteration and illusion spells, not so much.

[And even the elemental magic doesn't work the way it did back home, where he just drew from his inner well of mana. Apparently that spider he's bonded to now has something to do with it.]

Oblivion is another dimension in my world, home of the Daedra and their Princes. Each Prince has their own plane of Oblivion where they rule.

They seem to want to limit us to one discipline of magic, as it were. If you're already used to whatever you've ended up with, then congrats, you've got a leg up on the average Offworlder.

[ While Corwin has been called a sorcerer in the past, and magic is something he's technically capable of wielding, it has never been an area of study for him. ]

Lucky me then. Still, I'm used to having all kinds of magic at my fingertips, and this is going to take me a while to get used to.

You've got plenty of time. It's not as though we can go anywhere.

Not unless a dragon comes from the sky to take us all home.

Does that... happen often, where you come from?

Not as often as I'd like.

...Right. Well, little to no chance of it happening here, I'm afraid. Any dragons that might come by would be strictly local.

Hopefully they're friendlier than the dragons back in my world. Or at least less prone to set villages in fire.

Is that a common problem where you come from?

Sadly, yes. I couldn't go a month without having to save a village or city from being set ablaze by a dragon.

[After being away from her world for two years, Lucy's seen many beings that might be considered unusual. Lucy herself isn't quite normal either with the two white horns atop her head.]

I see that someone's already mentioned what happens to our original powers, but to add to that, you're in a world that's entirely different from your own. Apparently, all the worlds outside of this one are currently frozen in time.

[A pause before she asks:]

What language were you speaking just now? What does it even mean?

[Finn finds that news about his world disconcerting.]

That was the dragon language. When I speak it, stuff is supposed to happen. Fus ro dah translates to "Force, balance, push", for example, and it can blow away anyone and anything in its path.

Are there words for breathing fire? How did you learn dragon language in the first place?

That would be yol toor shul, or "fire, inferno, sun". As for how I learned it, I have a dragon's soul and one of the benefits is instantly being able to learn the dragon language just by reading it.

[He's got a large vocabulary, but he's not exactly an expert in speaking it.]

I've noticed that some people have dragons as familiars in this place. Is that what yours is?

I mean, there's a bit more to it than that. The Greybeards could explain it far better than I could, but that's the gist of it.

[He's gotten so used to having that magic that he feels almost naked without it, in addition to no longer being able to do Alteration or Illusion spells.]

I wish it was a dragon, because that would be rather fitting. No, actually, mine is a Solstheim spider.

[Finn whistles and a very large white spider, about the size of a small dog, crawls up his back and peeks over his shoulder.]

[A short pause before she adds:]

Sorry for all the questions, but since we're from completely different worlds, most of the things that might be common knowledge in your world aren't for me.

[That is a big ass spider, but Lucy isn't as grossed out as she thought she would be.]

In a strange way, it's almost kind of cute.

Are you kidding? I like talking about magic. The Greybeards are a group of old men on a mountain who teach Dragonborns how to use their powers.

[The spider starts toying with his hair. This thing seems to be much smarter than the regular albino spiders in Solstheim, in addition to being less aggressive.]

She's no dragon, but she'll do. I've been calling her Sil.
