01, video: un: capn_benny

[The video starts out zoomed in really close on a boy's eyeball, catching him mid-sentence.]

--thing working? [A brief pause.] ...Ah! Cool, I think I got it working.

[A brief pause, as the camera pans back to catch a full glimpse of his face.]

Anyway, I dunno how common it is to do this sort of thing when you're new, but I thought I'd introduce myself. I'm Bennett, of Benny's Adventure Team! ...Err, I guess that last part doesn't really matter yet. But it leads into my question.

[Another pause, as he considers his words.]

You see, I know this place has things like school, and jobs, but... What I'm really all about is adventuring! You know, traveling the countryside, diving into the darkest depths of caverns and domains, all for the sake of finding treasure and uncovering the lost secrets of the world... That sort of thing? [He speaks with so much passion and love for his chosen "profession" in life.]

There's gotta be so much of this world out there just waiting to be discovered, right? So, umm... What I wanted to know was, there are other people here who feel the same way, right? I'm not the only one who's already itching to explore... Right?

[In other words, he's trying to find adventuring buddies.]

Yeah? I'm glad you get it, Wotcher. The best way to familiarize yourself with your surroundings is to just go right in and start familiarizing yourself!

Huh? Oh... [So his name isn't Wotcher? It's.. Eleven...] ...Oh!

[His face turns red. Boy is he embarrassed now.]

Sorry! I... I thought that...!

[Eleven's a weird name too. But hey, he won't judge. Maybe Eleven's a normal name in his world.]

A-anyway, so you feel the same way, Eleven?

[ Okay so Xiao needed some help with this. He probably struggled with it for a good half hour before some poor local took it upon themselves to walk him through it. ]

Are you already soliciting others?

Soliciting? Why are you making it sound so bad?

[Rude Xiao. Rude.]

I'm just trying to find some adventuring buddies, that's all. What's so bad about making friends from other worlds?

It is all well and good. Making friends and acquaintances will be inevitable.

Yet so is the goodbye.

[rotacalamitas]

Yeah. It's true that we can't all walk on the same road forever. Eventually, we'll have to go our separate ways, whether we want to or not.

[He doesn't sound upset about that part. He's used to that inevitability, people coming into his life and then leaving.]

But... As sad as it is to have to say goodbye to somebody... I think it's a lot sadder to have never even said hello.

It's not like I need someone's approval to go adventuring. I could go do it on my own right now if I wanted to.

[There's almost a hint of a resigned tone beneath that cheery exterior. That's how it's always been for him, after all. Just going adventuring on his own because he didn't have companions to come with him. But he's hoping that maybe things can be different here.]

But... It's always more fun when you have companions along for the ride.

[schmisse]

Just... out of curiosity - do you have an objective with the whole "adventuring" [ Yes, she even does the air quotes. ] deal?

[ She imagines it's discovering new things, but do you sell the information you find for money or is it a self-satisfaction sort of thing? ]

I guess it varies.

[Adventures were unpredictable, after all.]

Sometimes, I'm after treasure. Other times, it's all about exploring the unknown. I could be climbing mountains, crawling through caves, swimming across the water, braving the elements, or even fighting off monsters.

[ He hasn't figured out how to switch from video yet, which is for the best. He looks like he was likely just out hunting. The background is outside, even. And, Razor is still covered in dirt. ]

Lots of people, Bennett. Lots of places. Many many. Should go look.

[He can't help but chuckle inwardly a bit at the sight of Razor. Even in new worlds, some things never change. And one of those things was Razor managing to be a dirty mess.]

That sounds good to me. What looked cool to you? I couldn't sit still earlier so I wandered around the city for a while but I bet I haven't even scratched the surface of this place.

Went to forest and hunt. Another woods, too. Heard dangerous. Didn't go in.

[ It looked a little dangerous when he lingered near the edge of it, though. He sounds pretty happy to share this with him, but - he also has more. ]

Bakery in city very nice. Good bread.

[ He's not really used to living in a city, so that part is taking some getting used to. ]

That's awesome. [Bennett smiles widely at his wild friend.] I was worried life in the city might be too much for you but it sounds like you're getting the hang of it.

[At least Razor isn't being chased through the streets for stealing bread like an animal.]

Tell me more about these woods. Maybe it's too dangerous alone, but... What if we tackled it together? Two heads are better than one, after all!

[And he did promise he'd hunt with Razor.]

So, something like an exploration guild is what you want to form?

[ Elfnein has thought about going out to explore more but alchemy wasn't really suited to active combat. ]

I was part of the Mondstadt Adventurer's Guild back home, so... Yeah. That's exactly what I'm looking for, I guess.

[But him being the one to form it? He's not too sure about that. A team's one thing, but an entire guild?]

I think there's plenty of people that would be interested in that, though there's already a system for quests, it might be a little hard to have two separate things that do the same type of work.

Eheh... [He recognizes that voice. That was that Ken kid he met the other day, the one who offered to go on an adventure with him sometime.]

You offering to go adventuring with me really lit a fire under me.

[Pause] But I figured you would take some time to settle yourself here before you actually did it.
