So, this place has magic, right? I may need help with mine.

[There's a pebble floating above his hand for just a moment.]

I can make things float. But I haven't had magic for... a while. But that's a long story I'm not getting into on here.

[There's a chitter from the squirrel looking creature on his shoulder.]

Right. I'm Thancred, and this is my familiar. He's a nutkin from my world.

Anyway, if anyone is willing and able to help with some magic lessons, I'd appreciate it, and find some way to reimburse you.

I only got to keep my healing magic here, but I still remember plenty of similar magics from home that might help... even if only in theory, considering my limitations here.

It must have been quite a while since your aether was locked beyond your access, so... I'll be happy to come do what I can. It'll be good to see your face again. In person, anyway.

Yeah, just floating. And minimal at that.

Yes, this world has a lot of different types of magic. Being able to make things float means you have kinetic magic, I have that too and I've been here ever since people first arrived into this world.

[Hey, you can't just say you haven't had magic for a while and leave it there??? She'll keep that in mind for later, apparently this is not the time to ask questions about that.]

I'm one of those, who have magic back home too even if this place locked my magic away. But I could help with magic lessons. I'm Rin Tohsaka, nice to meet you.

Yes, that's what they call it here. It includes things like moving objects with your mind, decreasing and increasing speed of movement and teleportation as a few examples of what you could do with it.

Well, I call him Sassy Bastard. Sass for short, or when I need to not swear in front of people.

Well. She probably won't be the most help to him then. Either way, he distracts her easily enough when he makes mention of his nutkin and she outright laughs.]

[ Well, there's a voice she recognizes. So far, she's been reluctant to try out the video setting of this device, but she figures she should at least show her face if she's going to talk to him.

I cannot say I have any talent with the magics here as of this very moment, but... It is good to see you, Thancred.

I am not sure if our mutual friend told you, but we found success in our venture within the Empty. It is a much greater story than that, but...

It'll take a lot of practice. I can try to teach you, but I'm not sure how much of a help I'll be when my magic is different.

It may be easier to practice as a secondary thing, and rely more on what skills you already have in the meantime. Perhaps you would benefit from making a foe think you've no magic ability at all, only to spring something tricky on them... that's a strategic opportunity you only get once.
