Can't we just go fetch Excalibur back and fix things that way?

That we do not yet know. [ Arthur isn't going to correct him. He, too, doesn't do science. ] A group making a mockery of knighthood by calling themselves the Knights of the New World seem to be the culprits, but their identities are unknown. If time continues, the multiverse will be torn asunder. Merlin has told me that unfreezing time around a singular, moving subject is much more complicated than freezing a large but fixed location.

About the time stuff... Say we succeed. We get you your sword back, fix everything, everyone goes home. What'll happen to people who were brought here from the past -- from before they died?

Many believe themselves just because they do what they believe is right, but without chivalry they are pretenders. I take it there is nothing chivalrous of your self-proclaimed "knights" either.

When I learn that myself, I will share it. I fell in the Battle of Camlann at Mordred's hand. It's a question I have much will to find the answer to. Queen Elphame would be the safest person to ask, if the hardest to seek an audience with.

I don't really give a shit about chivalry either way, but tearing up even one world to get what you want is unforgivable.

Elphame... Isn't that the name the fairy traders go by? Is she their queen or something? [a shrug, he can figure it out later.] Well, it sounds like our goals line up on both counts for now, so I'll help you out.

Yes, let alone all of them.

It is. They hail from Elphame, land of the fairies. It is much more dangerous there than it is here and a trip north to them is a harsh reminder that the humans and otherworlders here are guests in this realm. Not all fae are as friendly as the ones who visit us here, and the trip to the faerie capitol Nicnevin is treacherous for even the skilled among us.

Treacherous how? Big monsters? Cursed forests? Do the fairies just really like pranks?

If it's the best lead we have, it's a risk I'm willing to take.

Your bravery is noted. I would still recommend you wait until we can send a party of many skilled with magic together for the journey.

That depends upon all of you. Study hard with your fellow travelers, become strong in your magic and we can gather a party together but only at that time. I can not recommend sending a party now. The lives of Avalonians and our saviors are important to me.
