[It's that cat again.]
Real names does seem to be the done thing at the moment, doesn't it?
[The small feline gives a wide yawn, showing off all of his teeth and his pink tongue as it curls in his mouth.]
Mogget is not my name. [Only a name he has been given, and the only one he has been able to use for some time. He had left his original name behind for many reasons, but...]
Should you wish, you may address me by the name that I gave myself when I first gained consciousness from the chaos of Free Magic.
[His eyes seem to glow a little... but perhaps it's just a trick of the light. His tone hasn't changed at all.]
My true name is Yrael, the Eighth Bright Shiner. But you can just call me Yrael, if you like.

You can use either. I have been Mogget for a long time and have no ill-feeling towards that name despite the reason it was given. Yrael is what I was called by my brethren, and perhaps it will take some time to grow used to hearing it again.

Yrael, huh? It's a nice name. But is there one that you prefer over the other?
no subject
[Interesting. He'll come back to that.]
I have no preference to either and will answer to both. You're not the first to ask the question - I wonder why people find it so important?
no subject
[ Did you miss this bundle of cheer? ]
Well, sometimes people identify with one name more than the other. Some people use the old name as representing a past that they might want to move on from.

[He hums on a soft purr.]
That would have been true at one point... but I find that I don't object so much to hearing my old name as I used to. And 'Mogget' was a name given to me by the bloodline that I was enslaved to for generations, but I do not mind that one so much either, anymore.

Okay. Well, if you're fine with it then, could I keep calling you Mogget? That's the name I got to know you by.

[Ah, the stories he could tell. Mogget does not consider what he has been through to be 'trauma' in the same way that a mortal might struggle with centuries of servitude, but it would be a lie to say he has been content with any of it.]
I have never made my true name publicly known before. Hm. It's an interesting experience.
no subject
Really? So what led you to decide to reveal it now?
no subject
[A condition of his captivity - he could not disobey direct orders from the Abhorsens, and bindings were placed on him to keep him from giving certain information.]
Would you not want everyone to know who you really were, if you were given the opportunity?
no subject
Thank you for telling us, though. I'm glad to know more about you.

[Mogget does not often call people his friend. In fact, Razor would be the first here to hear such a thing from him.]
Either, or both, it makes no difference to me.
no subject
Alright. Just want to make sure are okay with what I call you.
[ He's not sure either is any more difficult than the other. ]
Want to be happy when hearing name.

Names mean little to me. They are simply something for someone to know me by.
[And call him by, even if he doesn't always answer.]
But I will be happy whichever you choose. Hearing you call for me is not unpleasant.
no subject
[ Which is apparently what he's chosen for simplicity. It's what he's always known the other as, and what he has always called him. He sees no reason to change it now unless the other specifically asked him to. ]
Will call on Mogget...more, then.
[ So he can enjoy that time with his friend. ]
